What is the Pilot Acro 300?

It is a slim, knock-type ballpoint that uses Pilot’s Acro ink, the low-viscosity oil-based ink of the Pilot Acroball. Pilot Japan’s catalog describes it as a slim pen with a grip that flares toward the tip, for stable writing, and says it suits business and formal settings.

Yoseka sells the 0.3 mm pen in six “misty” colors and notes that the barrel is plastic with metal accents that add a little weight. We read both pages on November 1, 2026.

Pilot Japan gives the same length, diameter and weight on the 0.3 mm and 0.5 mm pages we opened; we did not read a weight for the 0.7 mm pen.

What does “0.3 mm” mean on an Acro 300?

It is the ball diameter, and it gives the finest line in the family. Pilot’s Japanese names call 0.3 mm “gekihoso” (ultra fine), 0.5 mm “gokuhoso” (extra fine) and 0.7 mm “hoso-ji” (fine). Use 0.3 mm for planner boxes and small notes, and 0.5 mm if you want a firmer line.

What colors does the Acro 300 come in?

The 0.3 mm pen has six barrel colors, all with black ink: Misty Green, Misty Beige, Misty Coral Pink, Misty Purple, Misty White and Misty Bordeaux. Pilot Japan lists them with model codes ending in MG, MBE, MCP, MPU, MW and MBO.

The 0.5 mm pen has a different set, with clear blue, clear red, clear black, white, soft pink and soft blue barrels. Because the ink is black everywhere we looked, the color you pick is the body. We have no color chips, so we show names only.

How does the Acro 300 compare with other Acro pens?

It sits in the middle of Pilot’s Acro ink range, between the Acroball 150 and the Acro 1000. The yen prices below are Pilot’s list prices with tax from its July 1, 2026 list.

Pen Model (0.3 mm) Japanese list price
Acroball 150 BAB-15MF ¥198 (about US$1.30)
Acro 300 BAC-30MF ¥495 (about US$3.10)
Acro 500 BAC-50MF ¥715 (about US$4.50)
Acro 1000 BAC-1SMF ¥1,320 (about US$8.40)

The Acroball is Pilot’s entry pen on the same ink, covered in our Acroball guide. For a similar low-viscosity ballpoint from another maker, see the uni Jetstream Edge, and for the wider field our best ballpoint pens roundup.

Who is the Acro 300 for?

Anyone who wants a very fine, smooth black ballpoint in a slim body that fits a pocket. The fit is documented, not tested by us.

  • Everyday carry: Pilot Japan lists 142.6 mm and 10.9 g, short and light enough for a shirt pocket.

Skip it if you want colored ink: the 0.3 mm line is black only.

What refill does the Acro 300 take?

Pilot Japan names the BRFV-10MF-B, a 0.3 mm black Acro ink refill. Pilot’s BRFV-10 family also covers 0.5 mm (BRFV-10EF) and 0.7 mm (BRFV-10F), and Pilot’s refill pages say it fits the Acroball as well, so one refill pack serves several pens. Check the pack code in the shop rather than relying on our table.

Where is the Acro 300 made, and what does it cost?

Pilot doesn’t say. Pilot Japan’s catalog gives no country of manufacture and neither does Yoseka, so we list it as not stated.

Pilot’s list price is ¥495 (about US$3.10) with tax from July 1, 2026, up from ¥440 (about US$2.80). Yoseka’s US listing, read on November 1, 2026, was US$5, the bottom of our $$ band, above Japan’s list price. We haven’t compared shipping or fees.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Pilot Acro 300 refillable?

Yes. Pilot Japan lists the BRFV-10MF-B black refill for the 0.3 mm pen; Pilot's refill pages say the BRFV-10 family also fits the Acroball.

What ink does the Acro 300 use?

Acro ink, an oil-based ink that Pilot says is about one-fifth as viscous as ordinary ballpoint ink, so it flows more like a water-based pen.

Does the Acro 300 come in colored ink?

Not in the 0.3 mm line we checked: Pilot Japan lists black ink for all six barrel colors.

Is the Acro 300 the same as the Acroball?

No. Both use Acro ink, but the Acro 300 is a slim pen with a grip that flares toward the tip, and Pilot lists it at ¥495 (about US$3.10) against ¥198 (about US$1.30) for the Acroball 150.

How heavy is the Pilot Acro 300?

Pilot Japan lists 10.9 g, and Yoseka says the plastic barrel has metal accents that add a little weight without making it heavy.

Why did the Acro 300 get more expensive?

Pilot's price list dated July 1, 2026 raised the list price from ¥440 (about US$2.80) to ¥495 (about US$3.10) with tax. The list gives no reason.

What sizes does the Acro 300 come in?

Pilot Japan lists 0.3 mm (BAC-30MF), 0.5 mm (BAC-30EF) and 0.7 mm (BAC-30F). Yoseka's US listing is for 0.3 mm.
