Notes on these facts
Made by Zebra Co., Ltd. (Tokyo). Country of manufacture not stated: Zebra's Japanese product page gives size, weight and refills but not the country of manufacture, and we found no retailer page that states it.
Colors: names per Zebra Japan, checked October 24, 2026. Names are Zebra Japan's, given in English; the body matches the ink color. Zebra Japan lists 15 colors in 0.3 mm (JJH72) and 10 in 0.38 mm (JJX72); dark gray, red black, camel yellow, brown gray and bordeaux purple are 0.3 mm only, and the dark blue body writes blue-black. Tints were sampled from Zebra Japan's product photos; black was set by hand. Tints are representative, not measured. Shops stock different colors.
Price bands are typical US retail, checked October 2026. Conversions to US dollars are approximate, at October 2026 rates (US$1 = ¥158 = ₩1,330 = NT$32.5 = CN¥6.7 = SEK 9.9 = DKK 6.7 = ₺49.6 = C$1.41 = A$1.43 = CZK 21.7; €1 = US$1.12; £1 = US$1.32; CHF 1 = US$1.21).
Key takeaways
Zebra Japan lists the Sarasa Nano in 0.3 mm (JJH72) and 0.38 mm (JJX72), both 143.8 mm (5.7 in) long, 10.8 mm wide and 12.8 g.
The refill moves up and down with writing pressure on a spring, which Zebra says reduces the tip catching on paper.
It takes Zebra's standard JF-0.3 and JF-0.38 Sarasa refills.
Zebra lists it at ¥220 (about US$1.40) including tax, against ¥132 (about US$0.80) for a Sarasa Clip.
Zebra's page shows 15 color codes for the 0.3 mm and 10 for the 0.38 mm, plus a 5-color set.
What is the Zebra Sarasa Nano?
It is Zebra’s extra-fine Sarasa gel pen with a spring-cushioned refill, made to make 0.3 mm writing feel smooth. Zebra Japan’s tagline is that it writes “crisp and colorful” with its own Uru-Fuwa Cushion (うるふわクッション) mechanism.
The look is different from the clip-on Sarasa Clip: a solid body, a frosted clear clip and knock that echo the gel ink, and a polished metal front tip. Zebra says the tip is shaped so you can see where you are writing and gives the pen a slightly low center of gravity.
How does the Sarasa Nano’s cushion work?
The refill can slide up and down a little with writing pressure, and a spring absorbs the bumps. Zebra says this stops the tip catching on the paper, so ink comes out steadily and the line stays clean even at 0.3 mm.
The spring takes up pressure so the fine tip catches less.
JetPens describes the same idea from the user’s side: the spring lets the tip retract slightly, reducing sideways force and keeping the tip from wiggling.

All values are from Zebra Japan’s product page. Zebra adds that the 0.38 mm was introduced for writing in planners and notebooks.
Which size should you choose, 0.3 or 0.38 mm?
0.3 mm for the finest lines in small planners, 0.38 mm for slightly richer color and easier everyday notes. The cushion matters most at 0.3 mm, where uncushioned tips feel scratchiest.
Both use regular Sarasa JF refills, so you can switch sizes or colors with any JF refill in the matching ball size.
What colors does the Sarasa Nano come in?
Zebra’s page shows 15 color codes for the 0.3 mm and 10 for the 0.38 mm. Beside black (BK), blue (BL), red (R), pink (P) and orange (OR), the other codes start with V, such as VDB and VDG; Zebra’s page doesn’t spell out their color names in text.
Since the Nano takes ordinary JF refills, you aren’t limited to the body colors either: any JF-0.3 or JF-0.38 refill fits, so you can keep one body and swap inks.
Who should buy the Sarasa Nano?
Anyone who likes very fine gel lines but finds 0.3 mm pens scratchy or skippy. Planner users writing in small daily boxes, students annotating textbooks, and people with a heavy hand are the obvious fits.
If you write lightly at 0.5 mm, the cushion adds little, and a plain Sarasa Clip costs less. The Nano is also heavier, at 12.8 g against 10.9 g for the Clip, per Zebra.
How does the Sarasa Nano compare with other fine gel pens?
It is the cushioned option; the Sarasa Clip is cheaper and the Signo RT1 smooths the tip itself instead.
Figures for the other pens come from their guides. For a highlighter-safe Sarasa, see the Sarasa Mark On. For a 0.3 mm needle tip with a choice of six tinted black inks, Sakura’s Ballsign iD Single won a 2026 Japan Stationery Award; like the Nano, it’s one of our Japan-only pens that US buyers get from importers.
Where is the Zebra Sarasa Nano made?
Zebra doesn’t state it on its Japanese product page. Zebra is based in Tokyo; we list the country as not stated until we can check a package.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Uru-Fuwa Cushion on the Sarasa Nano?
Zebra's name for the spring that lets the refill move up and down with writing pressure. Zebra says it absorbs the scratchy feel of a fine tip and keeps ink flowing evenly.
Does the Sarasa Nano take Sarasa Clip refills?
Yes. Zebra lists the JF-0.3 and JF-0.38 refills for the Nano, the same JF series the Sarasa Clip uses.
What sizes does the Sarasa Nano come in?
0.3 mm (JJH72) and 0.38 mm (JJX72). Zebra added the 0.38 mm after the 0.3 mm, for planners and notebooks.
Is the Sarasa Nano wobbly because of the spring?
Zebra says the refill moves up and down with writing pressure. JetPens says the spring lets the tip retract slightly and stops it wiggling; we'll check in our own test.
Is the Sarasa Nano worth it over a Sarasa Clip?
If you write at 0.3 or 0.4 mm and find fine tips scratchy, the cushion is the reason to pay a little more. For 0.5 mm and up, the Sarasa Clip does the job for less.
Where can I buy the Sarasa Nano in the US?
From importers: JetPens has a Zebra Sarasa Nano category. Zebra Pen's US range doesn't list it in the sources we checked.
