What is the Zebra Justfit Mojini Line?

It’s a highlighter from Zebra Japan whose ink is made not to smear writing done in water-based gel pens. Zebra says ordinary highlighters drag water-based ballpoint ink across the page when you mark over fresh notes, and its own survey found about half of students had ruined notes that way.

JetPens names the Mojini Line the top choice in its highlighter guide. On Amazon US the five-color set had 790 ratings when we checked on October 22, 2026.

How does the Mojini Line stop gel ink smearing?

With opposite electric charges: the highlighter ink carries a positively charged ingredient that binds the negatively charged pigment in water-based gel ink. Zebra explains that water-based pigment ink keeps its colorant dispersed by giving the particles a negative charge.

When the Mojini Line’s positively charged ingredient meets them, the particles bind together and fix on the paper instead of spreading. Zebra says the idea came from an ion technique used in other industries, and that it took about 3 years and more than 450 trial inks to get there.

Which pens does it work with?

Mainly water-based pigment gel pens, such as Zebra’s own Sarasa. Zebra’s release says the effect works chiefly on water-based pigment ballpoint ink, and it names the Zebra Sarasa Clip as the kind of pen students use.

Zebra doesn’t make the same claim for dye-based gel inks or fountain pen ink, so test those on a scrap page. If you would rather fix the problem at the pen, Zebra’s Sarasa Mark On is a gel pen built to resist highlighter smears.

What is the soft nylon tip for?

It flexes against the page, so you get an even line with light pressure, even on curved pages. Zebra says the soft nylon tip bends to fit the paper, which helps on the bulging pages of a thick textbook near the spine.

The line is 3.5–4 mm, a little narrower than many chisel highlighters. There’s no fine end; for a twin-tip pen with a bullet point, look at the Zebra Mildliner.

How does it compare with other highlighters?

It’s the pick for marking over fresh gel pen notes; others win on pastels or on precision.

Where is the Zebra Justfit Mojini Line made?

Zebra doesn’t say on its Japanese page or in its press release, and JetPens and Amazon US don’t either. The brand is Japanese: Zebra Co., Ltd. is based in Tokyo.

Does the Mojini Line come in pastel colors?

No. Zebra lists five standard colors: pink, orange, yellow, green and blue, sold singly and in 3- and 5-color sets.

How long is the Zebra Mojini Line?

Zebra lists 135.1 mm (5.3 in) and 11.6 mm across; JetPens gives 135 mm capped, 127 mm uncapped and 155 mm posted.
