What refill does the logo take?
The LAMY M 16, a large-capacity ballpoint refill. LAMY’s German page says the brushed logo comes with an M 16 in medium, black.
The M 16 is LAMY’s own refill, and LAMY lists it for the logo in black, blue, red and green. Our pen refills explained guide covers how refill formats differ between brands.
How does the clip and push button work?
They are one part: you press the top of the clip unit to push the refill out, and press again to retract it. LAMY describes the clip and push button as merging into one integrated functional unit, which is what gives the pen its clean, uninterrupted profile.
The clip is sprung steel and holds the pen in a shirt pocket or a notebook’s pen loop. At 10 mm across, it also slips easily into the 15 mm elastic of a stick-on Leuchtturm1917 Pen Loop.
There’s no cap to lose and no twist to remember, which is why a push-button ballpoint like this suits meetings and quick notes. The trade-off is that a push mechanism can open in a bag, so clip it to a pocket or keep it in a case.
How does the logo compare with other metal ballpoints?
It is slimmer and lighter than most: 10 mm across and 14 g.
In Germany, per LAMY. LAMY’s German shop page for the logo describes the pen as “Made in Germany”, and LAMY says Heidelberg has been its only production site since 1930.
LAMY has been owned by Mitsubishi Pencil since 2024, a Tokyo company that is not part of the Mitsubishi group. We didn’t find a first release year for the logo on LAMY’s sites; Amazon’s listing credits the design to Wolfgang Fabian, while LAMY’s page says only “Lamy-Design”.
