Quick answer
The Kaweco Lunar Sport is a 2026 series of Kaweco's pocket Sport fountain pen in iridescent, pearl-effect ABS. It keeps the Sport's 105 mm capped, about 13 cm posted shape and short international cartridges, but it is the first plastic Sport with Kaweco's screw-in 060 nib unit, so you can swap EF to BB nibs yourself.

Notes on these facts
Country of manufacture not stated: Kaweco's Classic Sport pages say those pens are made and assembled in Germany, but the Lunar Sport listings we could read (Goulet Pens, Pen Heaven, Penchetta) don't state a country, and Kaweco's German shop was unreachable from our network on October 22, 2026. Check the box. Price: example listing. Released: Retailers listed the green colors for spring 2026, the Light Blue as a 2026 release, and the Light and Shadow Purple as arriving in late October 2026.
Colors: names per Kaweco, checked October 24, 2026. Six colors per Kaweco's LUNAR SPORT series page, all in its regular range. Tints were sampled from Kaweco's product photos; the pearl finish shifts in the light, so each tint is only an average. Tints are representative, not measured. Shops stock different colors.
Price bands are typical US retail, checked October 2026. Conversions to US dollars are approximate, at October 2026 rates (US$1 = ¥158 = ₩1,330 = NT$32.5 = CN¥6.7 = SEK 9.9 = DKK 6.7 = ₺49.6 = C$1.41 = A$1.43 = CZK 21.7; €1 = US$1.12; £1 = US$1.32; CHF 1 = US$1.21).
Key takeaways
Kaweco sells the Lunar Sport as its own series, LUNAR SPORT, at €24.95 (about US$28) in Germany, the same list price as the Classic Sport.
Retailers list it at about 105 mm (4.1 in) capped and 130 to 132 mm posted; Kaweco's listing gives 10.5 g.
It is the first plastic Sport with the threaded 060 nib unit, normally found on Kaweco's metal Sports, so nibs from EF to BB screw in without tools.
Colors so far: Light and Shadow Green, Light and Shadow Blue, and Light and Shadow Purple; US shops expected the purples in late October 2026.
It takes short international cartridges or Kaweco's mini converter, and the clip is sold separately.
What is the Kaweco Lunar Sport?
The Lunar Sport is a 2026 series of Kaweco’s classic pocket fountain pen in an iridescent, pearl-effect plastic. Kaweco lists it as its own series, LUNAR SPORT, with its own article numbers, rather than as one more Classic Sport color.
The body is the familiar Sport: an octagonal cap, a short round barrel, and a pen that grows to full length when you post the cap. What changes is the finish, the silver-tone trim and the nib unit, which now screws out.
Retailers describe two tones per color: a milky “Light” version and a darker “Shadow” version that shifts between hues in the light. Goldspot describes Shadow Purple as a dark base that shifts toward plum and violet.
Is the Lunar Sport just a new Classic Sport color?
No: it is the first plastic Sport with Kaweco’s threaded 060 nib unit, which earlier ABS Sports didn’t have. Kaweco’s German listing names the swappable 060 nib as the series’ special feature, and Goulet Pens repeats that the nib “can be easily swapped out for a different nib size or material.”
Penchetta, translating Kaweco’s description, says the 060 unit is “typically found on metal Kawecos” such as the Kaweco AL Sport. In practice you can screw in a new width without pulling the nib and feed apart.
Everything else matches the Kaweco Classic Sport: the size, the cartridges and the optional clip.

Kaweco’s German shop didn’t load from our network, so the price, weight and nib details come from its listings as search engines show them, cross-checked with Goulet Pens and Penchetta. Pen Heaven lists the Light Blue at £22 (about US$29) in the UK.
Capped for the pocket, posted for writing; the 060 thread sits behind the section.
What colors does the Lunar Sport come in?
Six so far: Light and Shadow versions of green, blue and purple. The greens arrived first, in spring 2026; Pen Heaven lists Light Blue as a 2026 release with blue and purple tones; and Light and Shadow Purple were due in US shops in late October 2026, per Penchetta and Goulet Pens.
Kaweco makes matching ballpoints, rollerballs and mechanical pencils in the series; Goldspot lists 0.7 mm pencils in both purples.
Is the Lunar Sport translucent?
Somewhat: the Light colors look milky and see-through at the edges, but none of them is a clear demonstrator. Goulet’s spec template mentions a demonstrator field, but its description, like Kaweco’s, calls the finish an iridescent pearl effect.
If you want to see the ink inside, Kaweco’s clear Ice Sport and Frosted Sport series suit better. The Lunar Sport is about the color shift.
What cartridges and nibs fit the Lunar Sport?
Short international cartridges, a Kaweco mini converter, and any Kaweco 060 nib unit. Goulet Pens says the pen ships with one cartridge stored in the barrel and that it can be converted to an eyedropper with silicone grease, which we haven’t tried.
Kaweco recommends M for beginners. German nib widths run broader than Japanese ones, so a Kaweco EF is closer to a Japanese F; compare the Pilot Kakuno if you want a Japanese-sized fine line.
How does the Lunar Sport compare to other Sports?
It sits between the Classic Sport and the metal Sports: plastic weight and price, metal-Sport nib unit.
Weights and prices for the Classic and AL Sport come from their guides. For other pocket options, see our best pocket pens.
Where is the Kaweco Lunar Sport made?
Kaweco hasn’t stated it for the Lunar Sport in any source we could read. Kaweco labels its Classic Sport “100% Made in Germany,” but we couldn’t load the Lunar Sport’s own page to confirm the same claim, so we list it as not stated.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Kaweco Lunar Sport translucent?
Partly. The Light colors look milky and pearl-like, and the Shadow colors are darker with an iridescent shift. Kaweco calls the finish an iridescent pearl effect; it isn't a clear demonstrator like the Kaweco Ice Sport.
Can you change the nib on a Kaweco Lunar Sport?
Yes. The Lunar Sport uses Kaweco's threaded 060 nib unit, so you unscrew the whole nib and feed and screw in another width or a different material.
What is the difference between the Lunar Sport and the Classic Sport?
The shape, size and cartridges are the same. The Lunar Sport adds an iridescent finish, silver trim and the screw-in 060 nib unit, which earlier plastic Sports didn't have.
Does the Lunar Sport come with a converter?
No. It ships with one ink cartridge stored in the barrel, per Goulet Pens; the Kaweco mini converter and the slide-on clip are sold separately.
What colors does the Kaweco Lunar Sport come in?
Kaweco and retailers list Light Green, Shadow Green, Light Blue, Shadow Blue, Light Purple and Shadow Purple. The purples reached US shops last, in late October 2026.
Is the Kaweco Lunar Sport a limited edition?
Kaweco sells it as a series in its regular range rather than a numbered edition, though some retailers label individual colors limited. Availability varies by color.
Which nib should I pick for the Lunar Sport?
Kaweco recommends M for beginners. Pick EF or F for small handwriting; German widths run broader than Japanese ones.
