What is the uni Jetstream Prime Twist Single?
It’s the premium, twist-action single-color pen in Mitsubishi Pencil’s Jetstream Prime line, with a metal body and a metal Jetstream refill. You turn the upper barrel to extend the tip instead of clicking a button. Mitsubishi Pencil launched it in Japan on February 21, 2018, at ¥3,000 (about US$19) before tax, in four colors.
The Prime line began in October 2013 with multi pens. Mitsubishi Pencil said the series beat its first-year target in six months, and in 2014 added a knock-action single pen, the Prime Single (SXN-2200).

Mitsubishi Pencil doesn’t publish the length or weight, so those come from retailers; their weights differ by about 2 g. The 0.38 mm (SXK-3000-38) is newer than the 2018 launch sizes.
The Prime is about as long as a Jetstream RT but slimmer, and more than twice as heavy.
What refill does it use?
It takes the SXR-600, a metal Jetstream refill that Mitsubishi Pencil says follows the international standard. Retailers call it a Parker-style or G2-style refill; unsharpen lists it at 9.8 cm (3.9 in) long. It’s shorter than the plastic SXR-7 that fits the Jetstream RT, so the two refills don’t swap.
Because the format is standard, The Gentleman Stationer says the Prime accepts other Parker-style refills too. Mitsubishi Pencil warns it can’t guarantee quality with other makers’ refills.
How does it compare to the Jetstream RT?
Both write with the same Jetstream ink; the Prime is a heavier metal twist pen, the RT a light plastic click pen.

If you want more than one ink in a single pen, see the Jetstream 4&1. For a metal pen at a similar weight with a gel-like rollerball line instead, see the uni-ball ZENTO Signature.
Which tip size should you choose?
Pick 0.5 mm for most handwriting, 0.38 mm for small planners and 0.7 mm for a bolder, smoother line. Jetstream ink is dark, so even the finer sizes read clearly. The number is the ball diameter; the line on paper depends on paper and pressure.
For an even finer Jetstream line, the uni Jetstream Edge uses a 0.28 mm ball.
How much does the Jetstream Prime Twist cost?
In the US it sits in our $$$ band ($20–75 per pen) at specialist shops. It’s an import in most US stores, so prices vary more than for the uni-ball pens sold in office stores.
Where is the Jetstream Prime Twist made?
US and UK retailers list it as made in Japan. The Gentleman Stationer and Hunter Paper Co. both say made in Japan, and unsharpen gives Japan as the country of origin. Mitsubishi Pencil’s own pages don’t state it.
