What comes in the Monza 3 set?
One pen, three nib sections, three converters and two international cartridges, in a reusable gift box. Monteverde’s product page lists Medium, Fine and Flex nibs.
Because each nib is a whole section, you can keep three colors inked in three converters and swap them into the one barrel. That makes it a cheap way to try a flex nib without buying a second pen.
Can you fill the Monza as an eyedropper?
The Monza ID is sold for it: Monteverde includes an eyedropper, and Goldspot says the barrel holds 5 ml.
Monteverde doesn’t make the same claim for the Monza 3, so check with the seller before you fill that barrel directly. Our guide to filling a fountain pen covers each filling method.
How does the Monza compare to other demonstrators?
It’s lighter and cheaper than most piston demonstrators, but holds less unless you use it as an eyedropper. Here it is beside two pens we cover.

Is the Monteverde Monza worth buying?
It’s a cheap way to try a clear pen and three nib styles, but its reviews are mixed. The Crystal Clear Monza 3 averaged 3.6 stars from 151 Amazon US ratings when we checked, lower than many pens in our $$$ band.
Choose it if you want to experiment with flex writing or eyedropper filling on a budget. If you want one daily pen above all, compare it with the TWSBI ECO and Pilot Prera in the table above.
Where is the Monteverde Monza made?
Monteverde doesn’t say. Its product pages, Goldspot and the Amazon US listing give no country of manufacture; the Amazon listing says only that the JoWo nib is made in Germany.
Monteverde USA describes itself as drawing on more than 40 years of American fountain pen expertise. For more pens at this price, see our best fountain pens under $50.
