What is the Schneider Slider Memo XB?
It is an extra-broad capped ballpoint from Schneider, a German pen maker, built around its smooth Viscoglide ink. Schneider says Viscoglide makes the pen write “außergewöhnlich weich und gleitend”, exceptionally soft and gliding.
It has a strong US following for a European pen: on October 22, 2026 the Amazon listings for the 10-pack had about 4,400 ratings, and the 6-color pack another 2,200.

How broad is the XB line?
Broad: retailers list 1.4 mm, about twice a typical 0.7 mm ballpoint. That makes a dark, bold line that is easy to read and hides shaky handwriting.
Nominal widths; real lines vary with paper and pressure.
The trade-off is detail. For small handwriting, planners or forms, a finer ballpoint such as the Monami 153 or Zebra F-301 is a better fit.
Who is the Slider Memo XB for?
People who like a bold, effortless line: signing, sketching notes, labeling and writing large. Schneider says the ergonomically shaped, generously rubberized barrel lets you write relaxed without tiring your hand.
That suits people who press hard or have hand pain, because the low-friction ink needs little pressure for a dark line. Schneider also markets the Slider range to students, listing it under its “Schüler und Studenten” (students) theme.
It is less suited to small grids, narrow-ruled notebooks and thin paper. A 1.4 mm line fills small squares quickly, so test it on your own paper first.
Is Viscoglide a gel pen?
No: Schneider sells the Slider as a ballpoint, with a low-friction paste ink. Schneider says the writing dries quickly even on smooth paper and stays smear-proof when you highlight over it.
That makes it a middle ground between a classic oil ballpoint and a gel pen; our gel vs ballpoint vs rollerball guide explains the families.
Which Slider Memo XB pack should you buy?

Is the Slider Memo XB refillable?
Not that we can find: Schneider’s pages don’t list a refill for the Memo. Its Slider pages describe refills only for the Slider Rave (Slider 755) and Slider Xite (Slider 710), which share the Viscoglide XB tip.
If you want a refillable broad ballpoint, look at those two. The Memo is designed to be used up; Schneider says the steel tip lets you use the whole ink supply.
Where is the Slider Memo XB made?
In Germany, per Schneider and Amazon. Schneider’s Slider series page carries a “Made in Germany” label, its spec sheet gives its home in Schramberg-Tennenbronn, and Amazon’s listing says “Made in Germany”.
