Why do Classic specials match an Edelstein ink?
Pelikan tied a Classic pen to an Edelstein ink every year from 2017 to 2025. Its timeline notes the Ink of the Year with the 2017 Smoky Quartz and the 2018 Olivine, and its pages pair Star Ruby, Moonstone, Golden Beryl, Apatite, Rose Quartz, Golden Lapis and Apricot Achat with an ink of the same name.
Pelikan sells some as a pen-and-ink gift set; the Rose Quartz ink flacon is 50 ml and, Pelikan says, “sold separately and only available for a limited time”. Our Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue guide covers its everyday ink.

What did Pelikan list before 2019?

Where can you find older Classic colors?
Start with Pelikan Passion’s timeline and archive, then the Collector’s Book, which covers special and limited editions from 1993 to 2020. Pelikan’s FAQ says most spare parts come from specialist retailers.
For care, Pelikan advises rinsing a daily pen once a year and an occasional pen every six months, with no detergents, and using bottled ink within 12 to 18 months. We found no authenticity checklist from Pelikan, and we couldn’t check second-hand prices; the most collectible pens guide covers collecting in general.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Pelikan Classic 200 Cherry Blossom limited?
Yes, but only in time: Pelikan says the special edition is available starting March 2026 for a limited time, with a three-year warranty. It gives no number of pens. It is the first of Pelikan's World Festival Series.
What is Pelikan's Edelstein Ink of the Year?
A yearly gemstone-named Edelstein ink, sold in a 50 ml flacon. Pelikan's page calls Rose Quartz the "Edelstein Ink of the year 2023", available separately and only for a limited time. Several Classic pens are made to match it.
What is the difference between the Pelikan Classic 200 and 205?
Trim and nib finish. Pelikan describes the 200 with gold-plated clip, rings and nib and the 205 with shiny silver-colored trim. Both are 12.5 cm capped and 13.4 g, with a piston filler and stainless-steel nib in EF, F, M or B.
Do Pelikan Classic special editions have gold nibs?
They have gold-plated stainless-steel nibs on the 200, such as Cherry Blossom's 24k gold-plated nib, and plain highly polished steel on the 205. None of the Classic pages we read lists a solid gold nib.
How many Pelikan Classic special editions were made?
Pelikan doesn't say. Its pages call them "available only for a limited time" or "limited availability" and give no edition sizes, unlike its numbered Souverän limited editions.
Do Pelikan Classic special editions have a warranty?
Yes. Pelikan's pages for the Apricot Achat, Marbled Red and Cherry Blossom say three years, and its warranty page gives three years on the Classic series from the date of purchase.
Is the Pelikan Classic 200 made in Germany?
Yes, according to Pelikan: its Classic pages say manufactured and assembled in Germany, and the Cherry Blossom page says designed and manufactured in Germany.
