Notes on these facts
Made by Mitsubishi Pencil Co., Ltd.. Country of manufacture not stated: Neither Mitsubishi Pencil's press release and lineup pages nor the US and importer listings we read state a country of origin for the 3-color pens. Price: example listing. Released: Per Mitsubishi Pencil's June 11, 2026 press release: on sale from June 25, 2026, with store dates varying.
Colors: names per Mitsubishi Pencil Japan, checked October 27, 2026. Body colors and ball sizes per Mitsubishi Pencil's three Japanese 3-color lineup pages (names translated from katakana); the model's name leads each one because Silver and Black appear on two models. The lineup pages list more colors than the June 11 press release (Flow Silver and Black, Standard B Lotus Pink and B Marine Blue). Tints were sampled from Mitsubishi Pencil's product photos. Tints are representative, not measured. Shops stock different colors.
Price bands are typical US retail, checked October 2026. Conversions to US dollars are approximate, at October 2026 rates (US$1 = ¥158 = ₩1,330 = NT$32.5 = CN¥6.7 = SEK 9.9 = DKK 6.7 = ₺49.6 = C$1.41 = A$1.43 = CZK 21.7; €1 = US$1.12; £1 = US$1.32; CHF 1 = US$1.21).
Key takeaways
Mitsubishi Pencil put three models on sale in Japan on June 25, 2026: Signature at ¥5,500 (about US$35), Flow at ¥2,200 (about US$14) and Standard at ¥825 (about US$5.20).
Every model holds black, red and blue ink in 0.38 or 0.5 mm and takes UBR-ZML-38 or UBR-ZML-05 refills, ¥143 (about US$0.90) each in Japan.
The Signature twists out each refill and keeps its magnetic cap, the Flow has an aluminum grip, and the Standard has a rubber grip and a knock.
On October 27, 2026 we found a US listing only for the Standard, at uni Brands' own store, in 6 colors; none for the Signature or Flow.
No source we read gives a length or weight for the 3-color pens, so we can't state either.
What is the uni-ball ZENTO 3-color pen?
It is the first multi pen in Mitsubishi Pencil’s ZENTO line: black, red and blue ZENTO ink in a slimmed-down body, in three models. Mitsubishi Pencil’s June 11, 2026 press release put them on sale in Japan on June 25, 2026, carrying over the look of the single-color ZENTO Signature and ZENTO Standard and adding the Flow.
The ink is the same water-based pigment ink as the single pens. Mitsubishi Pencil says an additive cuts writing friction by about 40% against its earlier water-based pens; we haven’t measured it.

Mitsubishi Pencil’s lineup pages list 2, 6 and 8 colors; its press release listed 2, 4 and 6, so the pages added colors after launch. Prices are with tax, per the press release and lineup pages. The Signature and Flow come in paper gift boxes.
Both ball sizes at 200×. All three models use them in black, red and blue.
How do the three models differ?
The ink is identical; the body changes. Each keeps its single-color namesake’s design.
Signature: keeps the magnetic cap, which pushes onto the back of the pen. A knurled rotary section twists out each refill, and it works with the cap posted.
Flow: an anodized aluminum grip, finished in blasted or hairline metal, with a movable clip colored to match.
Standard: a rubber grip that covers the tip end, and a knock that sits flush with the barrel. Tokyo Pen Shop says its shaft is 75% recycled material.
What refills does the ZENTO 3-color use?
The UBR-ZML, in 0.38 mm (UBR-ZML-38) or 0.5 mm (UBR-ZML-05), in black, red and blue. Mitsubishi Pencil lists it at ¥143 (about US$0.90) each in Japan, the same for all three models. It is not the single-color UBR-Z of the other ZENTO pens; see our Standard guide for that one.
Can you buy the ZENTO 3-color pen in the US?
Only in part, as far as we found. On October 27, 2026, uni Brands’ own US store listed the Standard 3-color, “Zento Standard, Multicolor Gel Pen”, at US$9.99 in six colors and both sizes, and Yoseka listed it at US$9.50. Both prices put it in our $$ band ($5–20).
We found no US listing for the Signature or Flow 3-color on those pages. Tokyo Pen Shop, an importer, lists all three. The US page calls the ink gel, while Mitsubishi Pencil’s Japanese pages call it water-based, and its color text names Ripple Blue and Ivory beside variants called Linen and Mist.
How does it compare with the Jetstream 4&1 and other multi pens?
The ZENTO is the softest-writing of these; the Jetstream 4&1 has the most inks. Sizes below are from each pen’s own guide; the ZENTO’s are unpublished.
No source we read says. Mitsubishi Pencil, based in Tokyo, doesn’t state a country on its press release or lineup pages, and US listings don’t either. We list it as not stated until a package confirms it.
Frequently asked questions
What is the uni ZENTO 3-color pen?
It is the first multi pen in Mitsubishi Pencil's ZENTO line, on sale in Japan since June 25, 2026. It holds black, red and blue ZENTO ink in 0.38 or 0.5 mm and comes as a Signature, a Flow and a Standard model, which keep the look of the single-color ZENTO pens in a slimmer body.
Is the ZENTO 3-color sold in the US?
In part. On October 27, 2026 uni Brands' own US store listed the Standard 3-color in six colors, and Yoseka listed it too. We found no US listing for the Signature or Flow 3-color on those pages. The Standard sits in our $$ band, $5–20.
ZENTO 3-color vs Jetstream 4&1: which is better?
They differ in ink and size. The ZENTO 3-color writes with soft water-based ink in black, red and blue; the Jetstream 4&1 adds green and a 0.5 mm pencil with low-viscosity oil-based ink, in a body 148.8 mm long. Pick the ZENTO for a smoother line, the Jetstream 4&1 for four inks and a pencil.
What refills fit the ZENTO 3-color pen?
The UBR-ZML, in 0.38 mm (UBR-ZML-38) or 0.5 mm (UBR-ZML-05), sold in black, red and blue. Mitsubishi Pencil lists all three models with the same refill at ¥143 (about US$0.90) each in Japan. The single-color ZENTO UBR-Z refills are a different part.
How much does the ZENTO 3-color pen cost?
In Japan, with tax: Signature ¥5,500 (about US$35), Flow ¥2,200 (about US$14) and Standard ¥825 (about US$5.20). The Flow in Silver and Black is ¥2,530 (about US$16). In the US only the Standard is listed that we found, and prices vary by shop.
How big and how heavy is the ZENTO 3-color pen?
We can't say. Mitsubishi Pencil's lineup pages list no length, diameter or weight for the 3-color pens, and neither did the US and importer pages we read. The company says only that the body is slimmer than usual for a multi pen. We will add figures once a shop or reviewer measures one.
Which ZENTO 3-color model should you buy?
The Standard for price and grip, the Flow for a metal grip at a middle price, and the Signature for the cap and twist mechanism. All three share the ink and the refill, so the choice is about body and budget, not the writing. Only the Standard is the one we could find in the US.
