It is the same sliding-bolt idea in a thinner body. BIGiDESIGN says everything people liked about the Bolt Action Pen now comes in a slim profile. It lets you control how the pen writes: the mechanism adjusts internally to different refill shapes and sizes, and a collet at the front end holds the refill to reduce wobble.

Zirconium is the only price jump. As of October 31, 2026 titanium (stonewashed, black or raw), brass and copper are US$100 each, and zirconium is US$250. The alloys are titanium grade 5, brass HBi59-1.5, copper C11000 and zirconium 702 UNS R60702.
How does it compare with the Ti Arto?
It trades the refill count for a slimmer body. The Ti Arto EDC lists more than 800 refills against this pen’s 100-plus, but uses a screw cap rather than a bolt. Another route to a long-lived pocket pen is the brass Fisher Space Pen Bullet .
What do you give up for the slim body?
A smaller refill list, by BIGiDESIGN’s own numbers. The standard Ti Arto lists 800-plus refills and the Slim lists 100-plus, so the Slim fits roughly an eighth as many cartridges. That is still a long list, and it comes with an auto-adjusting collet that the company says reduces tip wiggle. We have not tested any of the refills.

People who find the standard pen thick. The standard Bolt Action Pen is 9.7 mm across at the barrel and 11.3 mm at the grip, and the Slim is described only as slimmer, with no figure on the page. If you have small hands or write for long stretches, the thinner barrel is the reason to pick it. If you want to put an unusual refill in, the Ti Arto’s longer list is the safer buy.
