What can you do on it?

Write, use an optical mouse, and wipe off fingerprints. Grovemade’s information list says you can write directly on it, that it works with optical mice, and that it is antistatic, vegan and resists fingerprints. Its considerations list says it is not a cutting surface and not self-healing, and that colors may differ from the photos on your monitor.

How much does it cost?

Grovemade’s page showed US$56 with US$70 struck through and a “Ships in 2 weeks” badge on October 31, 2026. It didn’t say which size that price was for, so check each size on Grovemade’s store. Both numbers fall in our $$$ band ($20-75).

What is natural linoleum, and how does it feel?

Grovemade says it is a mixture of oxidized linseed oil and pine rosin with wood flour and calcium carbonate, not a synthetic. Its material guide says the furniture-grade linoleum won’t stick to your skin like a synthetic, has no odor and is very durable, with a tooth similar to high quality paper. The cork back adds cushion, and the guide calls the pad a great writing surface.

It is stain resistant and easy to clean, per Grovemade, and will show some signs of use, less than leather but more than wool. Grovemade gives no cleaning routine. The feature guide says the linoleum is manufactured in the Netherlands and, because it is manufactured rather than coming from an animal, costs less to produce than wool or leather, making this Grovemade’s most accessible desk pad.

How does it compare with leather and wool?

Grovemade sells the same pad in vegetable-tanned leather and merino wool felt, and says writing suits linoleum and leather but not wool. Its feature guide says wool has the most cushion and is adequate as a mouse pad but not good to write on directly. Leather patinas and can be damaged by too much water, and Grovemade says water rings from cups can leave a mark. Grovemade writes that all three are built to last more than a lifetime, which is its claim; we haven’t tested any of them.

Which size fits which setup?

Grovemade says Small, Medium and Medium Plus leave room for an external keyboard and mouse, Large works with its monitor and laptop stands, and Extra Large with its desk shelf. Its feature guide suggests Large and Extra Large if you want a continuous field for all your tools, and Small and Medium if you want a patch of contrast and to see most of your desk. It also says the small and medium pads slide around easily if needed but stay put in normal use.

One conflict: that guide says four sizes in each material, while the product page lists five.

Where is it made?

Designed in Portland, Oregon, and manufactured with a vendor partner in Kelso, Washington, per Grovemade.

What did we not find?

The product page names no colors and gives no weight or warranty, so we state none. We haven’t tested the pad ourselves.

What goes with it?

For a leather alternative, see our Galen Leather desk pad guide. Grovemade pairs its desk pen and notepad as a set, and best desk accessories lists more for the desk. For a paper pad that sorts each day’s tasks into four lists, see the MiGOALS Focus Desk Pad.
