What is the Kaweco Mini Converter?

It is a clear plastic piston filler that takes the place of a cartridge in Kaweco’s small pens. Kaweco says it works like a syringe: you dip the nib end into an ink bottle and draw the ink up, so a bottle can replace disposable cartridges.

Kaweco makes it for the Sport, its 105 mm pocket pen, and a foldable version for the Liliput. Our Kaweco system guide lists the whole range of parts that swap between pens.

How long is it, and how much ink does it hold?

The Mini is 33 mm closed and 52 mm open; the foldable one is 33 mm closed and 42 mm open. Both weigh 1.7 g, per Kaweco.

Kaweco’s pages give no ink capacity. Yoseka lists the Mini at 0.47 ml, a retailer figure we haven’t measured. For how converters compare across brands, see our converters explained guide.

How do you fill the Mini Converter?

Plug it into the front part, dip the nib into ink and draw the ink up. Kaweco describes it as being like a syringe, and says repeating the stroke increases the filling quantity.

Our guide to cleaning a fountain pen covers flushing a converter between inks.

Which pens does it fit?

Kaweco’s Sport series, and the Liliput only with the foldable version. Kaweco’s note says the Mini suits all Sport fountain pens, but the AL Sport and AC Sport only from the 2016 construction year on.

Yoseka’s page says it also fits short international-size pens, a claim we couldn’t confirm on Kaweco’s side. Kaweco makes a Standard converter for larger pens, which was €10.55 (about US$11.80) on its shop on October 30, 2026.

How does it compare with the Standard converter?

It is smaller and cheaper, built for Kaweco’s smallest pens. Kaweco says its Standard converter suits all larger fountain pens, and lists it in 11 colors at €10.55 (about US$11.80), against €8.13 (about US$9.10) for either Mini.

Kaweco describes the Mini as clear plastic with silver-colored trim, and the Standard as made for pens larger than the Sport and Liliput.

Which one should you buy?

In our view, the foldable one if you own or may buy a Liliput, and either if you only have Sports. They cost the same on Kaweco’s shop.

The foldable one is 10 mm shorter when open, which matters little in a Sport that has room for the 52 mm Mini. Kaweco says the foldable rod saves almost 20% in length with the same capacity.

Has the Mini Converter price changed?

Prices move, and shops differ. Kaweco’s own shop listed both converters at €8.13 (about US$9.10) with VAT, plus shipping costs, on October 30, 2026. Our system guide first recorded €6.95 (about US$7.80) for both on October 23 and now shows the same €8.13 (about US$9.10).

Kaweco’s shop says it can’t ship to the US at present because of import fees. Yoseka Stationery, a US importer, listed the Mini in our $$ band ($5–20) on the same day.

Where is it made?

Kaweco’s pages don’t say. They list article numbers, EAN codes, length and weight but no country of manufacture, so we’ve marked it not stated.
