Which stationery awards named 2026 winners?
Three awards published 2026 stationery winners we could verify from the organizers or makers: Japan’s Bungu-ya-san Taishō and Japan Stationery Award, and the international iF Design Award. There’s no single #1 across awards: the two grand prizes went to the LACONIC Solid Write (shop award) and the Maruman Spiral Note Basic (trade-fair award).
| Award | Organizer | Announced | Top stationery winner | Maker |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bungu-ya-san Taishō 2026 (文房具屋さん大賞) | Fusosha, with 13 retailers | February 14, 2026 | Solid Write 0.5 mm mechanical pencil | LACONIC |
| Japan Stationery Award 2026 (日本文具大賞) | RX Japan, at ISOT | June 24, 2026 | Spiral Note Basic | Maruman |
| iF Design Award 2026 | iF International Forum Design | By February 27, 2026 (maker releases) | iA Notebook (Gold Award) | Information Architects |
Full lists are in our Bungu-ya-san Taishō 2026 winners and Japan Stationery Award 2026 winners guides.
Japan’s all-industry Good Design Award, announced October 15, 2026, also gave 23 awards in its stationery category; see our Good Design Award 2026 stationery winners.
How did we choose what to cover?
We didn’t pick these winners; the award juries did, and we compiled the results from organizer and maker pages read by October 22, 2026, without testing the products. We feature the grand prizes, the products that won more than one award and the iF winners, with US availability checked, and leave out awards whose 2026 stationery results we couldn’t verify.
How are the two Japanese awards different?
The Bungu-ya-san Taishō is judged by shop staff and favors what sells; the Japan Stationery Award is judged at a trade fair and favors design and function. Fusosha says about 1,200 products were nominated for the shop award, which gave 3 special awards, 22 category awards and 13 store awards.
RX Japan’s award named 12 winners, 3 in each of 4 categories (function, design, sustainable and trend), before picking one grand prix. For how these awards fit Japan’s stationery scene, see our story on Japanese stationery culture.
Which products won more than one award?
Four products won twice across the 2026 lists.
| Product | Maker | Awards |
|---|---|---|
| Digitox The Routine phone time-lock case | Sonic | Bungu-ya-san Taishō desk storage award; Japan Stationery Award trend winner |
| AIMVISION PRO mechanical pencil | KAYOU+ | Bungu-ya-san Taishō mechanical pencil award; iF Design Award 2026 |
| Ballsign iD Single gel pen | Sakura | 6th in the Bungu-ya-san Taishō ballpoint ranking; Japan Stationery Award design winner |
| iA Notebook | Information Architects | iF Gold Award 2026 (and, earlier, Red Dot 2025 and a Japan Stationery Award 2025 design prize) |
Why they’re here: winning twice is the strongest signal on these lists, which is why the Digitox Routine is in our facts box with the two grand prizes, the FriXion Synergy 3 and the iF-winning AIMVISION. Hands lists the Digitox Routine at ¥4,950 (about US$31). It locks a phone away on a timer or on a daily schedule, per RX Japan.
What won at the iF Design Award 2026?
The iA Notebook won an iF Gold Award in the office and stationery category, and two KAYOU+ drafting pencils won iF Design Awards. The notebook’s Japanese PR agency says only 75 of more than 10,000 entries got Gold, from 129 jurors.
Information Architects, a Tokyo and Zurich design studio, says each iA Notebook is bound by hand in Japan, with watermark-style ruling that iA says recedes as you write. KAYOU+ says the AIMVISION PRO has a CNC-machined brass body, a patented lead-grade dial and a short 24 mm clip.
KAYOU+ lists the resin-bodied AIMVISION at 142 mm (5.6 in) and 12.9 g, for ¥5,500 (about US$35). KAYOU is the Japanese arm of China’s KAYOU group, and the stationery brand launched in July 2025.
What about Red Dot and other awards?
We couldn’t verify a Red Dot 2026 winner among pens, pencils or paper notebooks, so we list none. Red Dot said its 2026 product design laureates would be published from July 2026; the stationery winners we found were from earlier years.
We also didn’t find verified 2026 product winners for Korean, German or British stationery awards, or for a US pen-show “pen of the year.” We’ll add them if organizers publish results.
Which award winners can US buyers get?
The pens are easiest: JetPens sells the Pilot FriXion Synergy 3, and Amazon.com has Japan-import listings of the Solid Write and the Pilot Juice+. The Juice+ shares its Synergy Tip refills with the Juice Up, which is easier to find in the US.
By October 23, 2026 Amazon.com listed the Spiral Note Basic (the A5 Black sold by Maruman US); we found no US listing for the AIMVISION or the Ballsign iD Single. For Japanese favorites that are stocked in the US, see our best Japanese pens and best Japanese notebooks.

If the pattern holds, the Bungu-ya-san Taishō in February and the Japan Stationery Award at the summer ISOT fair, which RX Japan lists for June 9–11, 2027. Neither organizer had announced 2027 award dates when we checked on October 22, 2026.
