What is the Seed Kadoloop?

The Kadoloop is a plastic eraser whose worn corner you can rebuild: warm the rounded end and it softens, press it into a shaping sheet, and it sets square again. Seed, the maker of the Radar eraser, calls it a カド復活消しゴム, a corner-restoring eraser.

A sharp corner is what lets you erase one letter or a thin line without touching its neighbours. Normal erasers lose it in minutes; the Kadoloop lets you make a new one.

Seed developed it with pupils of Ohinata Elementary School (大日向小学校), whose idea for an eraser matched one Seed already had in development, according to Yodobashi’s listing. Japanese shop staff named it the eraser winner of the Bungu-ya-san Taishō 2026.

JetPens measures it at 5.5 × 2.0 × 1.1 cm, within a millimetre of Yodobashi’s figures, and lists it as phthalate-free. The Kadomodo sheet comes in the package, so keep it with the eraser for the next reset. That is the same footprint as the Seed Radar SR-100.

How do you bring the corner back?

Soak the worn end in hot water for about 30 seconds, wipe it dry, press it into the Kadomodo sheet, and leave it to cool. The sleeve has a peel-and-restick tab, so it comes off for the soak and goes back on afterwards.

Four steps to restore a Seed Kadoloop corner: remove sleeve, hot water about 30 seconds, press in the sheet, cool
The reset in four steps; erasers drawn to scale at 1 mm = 2 px.

The tester at HugKum, Shogakukan’s parenting site, found the water has to be really hot: a first try with cooled water changed nothing, while freshly boiled water made the end bend like a firm kneaded eraser. Pressing too hard left the face uneven, so it takes a little practice.

Yodobashi’s listing adds a dry method: blow warm air from a hair dryer on the rounded part for 1 to 2 minutes. Keep the heat away from the paper sleeve either way.

Does it erase as well as a normal eraser?

It is firmer than Seed’s Radar, and HugKum’s tester found it left a slightly darker trace. The material has to soften with heat and set again, so it is harder at room temperature.

That trade suits detail work, where the corner matters more than raw erasing power. For big areas, a soft block such as the Radar or one of our best Japanese erasers clears faster.

HugKum notes it carries the clean mark of Japan’s eraser makers’ association, the industry’s safety and quality label.

Where can you buy the Kadoloop?

In the US, JetPens listed single erasers in stock on October 23, 2026, in our $ band (under $5). Amazon.com had a 12-piece pack (EP-LP1-12P) sold by Amazon Japan at import prices.

In Japan it sells at stationery and electronics stores; Yodobashi listed it at ¥206 (about US$1.30), below the ¥275 (about US$1.70) list price.

Where is the Seed Kadoloop made?

In Japan, according to Yodobashi’s spec sheet. An Amazon.com import listing also says made in Japan; Seed’s own site didn’t load for us, so we couldn’t confirm it on the maker’s page.

Frequently asked questions

How many times can you restore a Kadoloop corner?

Seed says you can bring the corner back again and again; it gives no limit. Each time, the eraser itself is a little smaller from use.

Can I use a hair dryer instead of hot water?

Yes. Yodobashi's listing says to take off the sleeve and blow warm air on just the rounded part for 1 to 2 minutes, keeping the dryer back so you don't burn yourself.

Does the Kadoloop erase as well as a Seed Radar?

A HugKum tester found it noticeably harder than a Radar and leaving a slightly darker trace. We haven't tested it ourselves yet.

Is the Kadoloop safe for kids to use?

The eraser carries the clean mark of Japan's eraser makers' association for safety and quality, per HugKum. The hot water is the risk: an adult should handle it.

What does Kadoloop mean?

Kado (カド) is Japanese for corner, and loop suggests the corner coming back round again. Seed calls it a カド復活消しゴム, a corner-restoring eraser.

Where can I buy the Seed Kadoloop in the US?

JetPens listed single erasers in stock on October 23, 2026, and Amazon.com had a 12-piece pack (EP-LP1-12P) sold by Amazon Japan.
