What is KOKUYO’s eraser that erases well but doesn’t break easily?
It is a Campus-brand PVC eraser from KOKUYO, sold in Japan since September 2025, made to erase cleanly without snapping in half. KOKUYO’s Japanese name, よく消えるのに折れにくい消しゴム, says exactly that.
KOKUYO explains the trade-off on its page: soft erasers erase well but break, and hard ones don’t break but leave marks. Its answer is a “hybrid” formula that locks a graphite-grabbing ingredient inside a stiffer skeleton ingredient.
It is the first eraser under Campus, KOKUYO’s best-known notebook brand; see our KOKUYO Campus notebook guide for the notebooks.
What sizes and shapes does it come in?
Two shapes, a parallelogram and a rectangle, each in M and S, in white or black. All figures are from KOKUYO’s Japanese spec pages, read October 23, 2026.

Why is it a parallelogram?
KOKUYO says the slanted block is easier to lift off a desk and to press with little force. It developed the shape through HOWS DESIGN, its inclusive design process, with three workshops that included people with weak grip.
KOKUYO’s magazine says the project took five years and that testers tried seven prototypes, changed in 3° steps, before it chose 66°. Because some testers still preferred a plain block, KOKUYO kept the rectangle too.
The designer told KOKUYO’s magazine the eraser feels a little softer than KOKUYO’s Resare Premium but still erases small areas precisely. That is a maker’s description; we haven’t tested it yet.
Why did it win a Japan Stationery Award?
RX Japan gave it a 2026 Japan Stationery Award in the sustainable category, citing the hybrid formula and the inclusive design process. The 35th award named 12 winners on June 9, 2026; see our Japan Stationery Award 2026 winners for the full list.
RX Japan’s entry calls the process a step toward well-being for each user. An eraser that doesn’t snap is also one you finish instead of losing in pieces, and KOKUYO marks the line with its own resource-recycling concept logo.
How does it compare with other Japanese erasers?
It sits between soft, clean-erasing blocks and firm precision erasers, and its main difference is shape.
Yes, in part: JetPens lists the medium parallelogram, and Amazon.com has Japan-import packs. When we checked on October 23, 2026, Amazon.com showed a two-pack of 3-piece parallelogram M sets as a Japan import. A single eraser sits in our $ band (under $5); the black and S sizes are easier to find from Japanese stores or proxy services.
Where is it made?
KOKUYO doesn’t say. Its Japanese spec pages give the materials and JAN codes but no country of manufacture, and neither RX Japan nor DIME states one.
