What is the PLUS Fit Cut Curve Bannō Titanium?
It’s PLUS’s newest all-purpose (万能, bannō) household scissors, model SC-190PMT, made to cut hard things such as thin metal, wire, CDs and plant stems, and to be washed afterward. PLUS launched it on May 29, 2026 in black.
It belongs to the Fit Cut Curve family, whose curved blade PLUS says keeps the best opening angle from root to tip. PLUS says the series passed 50 million units by June 2025 and is Japan’s top household-scissors brand by sales value, citing Intage data.
What award did it win?
A function-category excellence prize (優秀賞) at the 35th Japan Stationery Award, one of 12 winners named by RX Japan on June 9, 2026. RX Japan’s winners page credits the improved leverage, wider blade and titanium coat that makes it washable.

All figures are from PLUS Japan’s item lists. PLUS also sells a titanium-coated stationery model, the SC-175ST, which shares the SC-175SF’s shape, not the Bannō’s.
The all-purpose models are longer overall but have much shorter blades, which gives more leverage.

PLUS says it does not cut piano wire, paper clips, stainless wire or very thin film such as plastic wrap. These are maker figures; we haven’t tested them.
What changed from the 2016 Bannō type?
PLUS lengthened the handles relative to the blade for more leverage, widened the blade so it flexes less, and coated the whole blade in titanium. The 2016 Bannō type (SC-175PM) is 178 mm with a 48 mm blade and no titanium coat, at ¥2,050 (about US$13) before tax.
PLUS says it found owners of the older model cutting carpet and plants that dirtied the blade, so it made the new one washable. It also keeps the wire cutter, the PET-bottle cap opener, a 36 mm wide soft grip and a cap that fits either way round.
Can you buy it in the US?
Not from US retailers yet. On October 23, 2026, Amazon US listed several Fit Cut Curve models, including the SC-175SF and the titanium SC-175ST, but not the SC-190PMT, and we found no other US listing.
PLUS doesn’t say. Its product page, item list and press release give sizes, materials and codes but no country of manufacture. PLUS Corporation is a Japanese company based in Tokyo.

Is the Fit Cut Curve Bannō Titanium the same as the Fit Cut Curve SC-175SF?
No. The SC-175SF is PLUS's 174 mm fluorine-coated stationery scissors with a 65 mm blade for paper and tape; the SC-190PMT is a 187 mm all-purpose scissors with a short 46 mm serrated blade for metal, wire and plants.
What does Bannō mean?
万能 (bannō) means all-purpose. PLUS uses it for its Fit Cut Curve models that cut hard materials, not just paper.
Can the Bannō Titanium cut wire?
Yes, through the wire-cutter hole. PLUS lists galvanized iron wire up to 1.2 mm, copper wire up to 1.6 mm and aluminum wire up to 2.5 mm, but not piano wire, paper clips or stainless wire.
Can you wash the Fit Cut Curve Bannō Titanium?
PLUS says the full titanium coat lets you wash it, for example after cutting plants or carpet. Its care notes still say to wipe it dry after it gets wet, to prevent rust.
Are PLUS Bannō Titanium scissors good for left-handed people?
PLUS doesn't call them left-handed. The two loops are different sizes, so they're shaped for the usual right-hand grip; we haven't tried them left-handed.
Can you buy the SC-190PMT in the US?
Not from US retailers when we checked on October 23, 2026. Buy it from a Japanese store that ships abroad or through a proxy service.
Are PLUS Bannō Titanium scissors made in Japan?
PLUS doesn't say. PLUS is a Tokyo company, and its own shop lists China for a different Fit Cut Curve model, so check the package.
