Most new LAMY fountain pens come with one blue T10 in the box. On October 22, 2026, the black box was No. 72 on Goulet Pens’ best-seller list, with 121 reviews.

Which pens do T10 cartridges fit?

All LAMY fountain pens except the LAMY 2000. LAMY’s product page says so in one line, and its ink guide adds that the 2000 fills only from a bottle.

That covers the LAMY safari, the LAMY AL-star, the all-metal LAMY studio and the rest of the range. The T10 is LAMY’s own shape, so it doesn’t fit other brands, and standard international cartridges don’t fit LAMY pens.

How much ink is in a T10?

1.25 ml, per LAMY’s German ink guide. Goulet Pens lists 1.28 ml, close enough to call the same.

That’s about half again what the LAMY Z28 converter holds (about 0.8 ml), which is why LAMY recommends cartridges for heavy daily writing: you change them less often.

How do you fit a T10?

Take off the barrel, push the cartridge firmly onto the grip section, and close the pen. The pen pierces the cartridge’s seal as you push.

LAMY’s product page lists the T10 for all its cartridge fountain pens, so the steps are the same across the range, from the safari to the studio.

Hold the pen nib down for a few seconds before you write so ink can flow into the feed. When the ink window shows empty, swap in a new cartridge the same way.

Which T10 colors are there?

Seven: black, blue, blue-black, green, red, turquoise and violet. LAMY’s ink guide names the classic royal blue, blue-black and black first, then green, red, turquoise and violet.

LAMY’s German page describes the blue as löschbar, erasable with an ink eraser. For colors outside the seven, use a converter and a bottle such as LAMY T52.

Cartridges or a converter?

Cartridges are quicker and hold more; a converter opens up every bottled ink. LAMY’s ink guide puts it the same way: the T10 swap is fast, and the empty cartridges go in plastic recycling.

You can also refill an empty T10 with a blunt syringe. A box of five is the cheapest way to start, in our $ band.

Are T10 cartridges waterproof?

No. LAMY’s inks are water-based, and Goulet’s spec sheet lists the black cartridges as not water resistant, not pigmented and not iron gall.

That also means they rinse out of a pen with plain water. LAMY says its inks are vegan and free of harmful ingredients.

Where are LAMY T10 cartridges made?

In Heidelberg, Germany. LAMY’s quality page says it makes nearly all components in-house there, naming the ink cartridges, and its ink guide says all LAMY inks are “Made in Germany”.

LAMY has been part of Japan’s Mitsubishi Pencil since February 2024, per its company page.
