Raise the slider on the side and the board bends at its middle; lower it and the two halves lock into one flat, rigid board. LIHIT LAB says this keeps the writing surface flat enough to write standing up, and Yanko Design describes it as rigid with no flex when locked.
The clip has a lock, so it stays open while you load papers. LIHIT LAB says documents aren’t creased when you fold it, and the paper stopper keeps them from sliding out.
