What is the Dulton Metal Clip Board?
It is a metal clipboard from the Japanese homeware brand Dulton, sold in three paper sizes and two clip finishes. Dulton Co., Ltd. says it was founded in 1988 and sells furniture, housewares, garden and kitchen tools and stationery; this board sits on its Stationery page.
Dulton’s product text is a short pitch for writing on paper: it says that in an age of screen work, ideas still grow on a white sheet, and that a corrosion-resistant clip may help turn a scribbled note into a firm idea. We read Dulton Japan’s pages on November 3, 2026.
What are the Metal Clip Board’s sizes and specs?
Dulton lists A6 at 120 × 190 mm, B5 at 190 × 290 mm and A4 at 220 × 340 mm. The boards are larger than the paper they are named for, which leaves a margin around a sheet.

Prices include tax. Dulton gives no weight, board thickness or clip opening, and it doesn’t say the paper size each board takes; the matching sizes above are standard paper dimensions set against its board sizes. In Dulton’s photos the top edge carries a ruler scale and there is a long slot near one side; neither is described in its text, so treat them as what the photos show.
Galvanized is the plain silver-gray option and brass is the gold one; both pair the clip with a pale aluminium board in Dulton’s photos. Dulton lists galvanized as steel and aluminium and brass as brass and aluminium. It sells galvanized only in A6 and B5 and brass in A6, B5 and A4, as far as we could read.
Galvanized has a catch: Dulton says the finish shows fine scratches, scuffs and polishing marks from manufacturing, and that white rust can form on a zinc-plated surface. It says this does not affect quality or safety, and asks buyers to accept it as a trait of the product. We did not see that note on the brass pages we read.
Who is the Metal Clip Board for?
It suits someone who writes on loose paper at a desk and wants a board that looks like a tool, not a piece of plastic. The A6 is the smallest at 120 × 190 mm, the B5 leaves a margin around a Japanese B5 sheet, and the A4 board takes a full A4 sheet.
Skip it if you need a light board to carry around: Dulton gives no weight, so we can’t say how heavy the A4 is. Also skip it if you hate clip marks, because Dulton warns the clip can leave a mark on the paper.
How should you use and care for it?
Clamp gently, take sheets out by opening the clip, and keep it dry. Dulton’s notes warn of sharp parts, of pinched fingers at the moving part, and of tearing paper if you pull a sheet out forcibly. They also say not to clamp too much at once, which can break the clip, and not to use it where it is hot and humid.
For cleaning, Dulton says to wipe it with a soft cloth; a scrubbing brush or polishing powder can scratch the surface. If it gets wet, wipe off the water and dry it in the shade.
How much does it cost, and is it in stock?
From ¥1,430 (about US$9) for the A6 galvanized to ¥2,970 (about US$18.80) for the A4 brass on Dulton Japan, in our $$ band ($5–20). Dulton’s domestic shipping for a small parcel is ¥880 (about US$5.60), waived from ¥6,000 (about US$38), and we did not see an overseas checkout, so we can’t say what a US buyer would pay.
Stock moves. On November 3, 2026 the B5 galvanized page said no next restock was planned, and the A4 brass showed low stock. Check the shop before you plan around a size.
Where is it made?
Dulton’s product pages give China as the country of origin; Dulton is a Tokyo company. For other desk boards see Penco’s Clipboard O/S in MDF and Lihit Lab’s Mutual folding clipboard; for another Dulton desk piece see the Desktop Tray.
