It is made in China, per Dulton's own product pages; Dulton Co., Ltd. describes itself as an interior-goods maker founded in 1988.
What is the Dulton Desktop Tray?
It is a shallow steel tray for the top of a desk, sold by the Japanese homeware brand Dulton in eight colors. Dulton Co., Ltd. describes itself as an interior-goods maker founded in 1988 that sells furniture, housewares, garden and kitchen tools and stationery, and it files this tray under Stationery on its Japanese shop.
Dulton’s own product text calls it an original steel tray in many colors: not too small, not too large, and stackable, so storing spares is easy. It says the steel gets more character with use, that aluminium wire adds a lighter touch, and that an embossed Dulton logo sits quietly in the middle of the floor. We read Dulton Japan’s pages on November 3, 2026.
What are the Desktop Tray’s specs?
Dulton lists 205 mm wide, 95 mm deep and 22 mm tall outside, with an inside of 180 × 70 × 20 mm. That makes the usable floor about the size of a long pen plus a little room, which is what the tray is built for.

In Dulton’s photos the aluminium shows as silver pieces at the four corners of the rim, and the floor carries a raised DULTON wordmark. The drawing on this page shows the corners and rim by eye.
Which colors does it come in?
Eight: Brick Brown, Gray Green, Ivory, Navy, Olive Drab, Red, Yellow and Raw. Seven are painted with a powder coat; Raw is listed as steel with a clear coat, so it keeps the look of bare metal and, going by Dulton’s remark about steel gaining character, is the one most likely to change as you use it.
Dulton warns that paint may be uneven, and that fine scuffs and small scratches can appear from manufacturing. On November 3, 2026 its pages marked Brick Brown as out of stock; stock changes daily, so check the shop.
Who is the Desktop Tray for?
It suits someone who wants a cheap, tidy home for pens, clips and small items on a desk, and doesn’t mind a factory-finish coat. The 180 × 70 mm floor takes a typical pen lying flat, and Dulton’s stacking note means a second tray can sit under the first for spares.
Skip it if you want something waterproof or food-safe: Dulton says it is not a food tray and asks you not to put liquids in it. Dulton gives no weight or capacity, so we can’t say how much it holds.
How much does the Desktop Tray cost?
Dulton Japan listed every color at ¥880 (about US$5.60) including tax on November 3, 2026. That is in our $$ band ($5–20) just above the $ line. Dulton’s domestic shipping for a small parcel is ¥880 (about US$5.60) flat, waived on orders of ¥6,000 (about US$38) or more, so a single tray in Japan costs about as much again to send.
We did not see an overseas checkout on the pages we read, only a link for overseas wholesale inquiries, so we don’t know whether Dulton Japan ships to the US. Where it is sold by importers, prices will differ and we haven’t checked them.
How do you look after it?
Wipe it with a soft damp cloth and keep it dry. Dulton’s notes ask you not to wash the tray under running water, not to leave it in direct sun or in hot, humid places, and not to give it hard knocks. It also warns that the rim has sharp spots, and that small children can hurt themselves on it.
Dulton says a small hole in one corner is a by-product of how the tray is made, and treats uneven paint as a characteristic, not a fault.
Where is it made, and what else does Dulton sell like it?
Dulton’s product pages give China as the country of origin; Dulton itself is a Tokyo company. Dulton’s Stationery page also lists an Oblong Tray in six colors and a Desktop Tray LC Edition in beige, blue and silver. We have not read those two pages, so we say nothing about their sizes.
Dulton lists it at 22 mm tall, 205 mm wide and 95 mm deep outside, and 20 × 180 × 70 mm inside, so it holds items up to about 18 cm long.
Can Dulton Desktop Trays be stacked?
Yes. Dulton's product text says the tray is small enough, and stacking is possible, so storage is easy. It does not say how many can be stacked safely.
What is the Dulton Desktop Tray made of?
Powder-coated steel with aluminium wire, per Dulton's spec line. The Raw color is steel with a clear coat. Dulton does not give the steel thickness or the weight.
Why does my Dulton tray have a small hole in one corner?
Dulton says a small hole in one corner is a result of the manufacturing process, and paint may be uneven. It lists both as characteristics of the product, not defects.
Can I put food or liquids in a Dulton Desktop Tray?
No. Dulton says it is not a food tray and asks you not to put liquids in it. Wipe it with a soft damp cloth and do not wash it under water.
Are the edges of the tray sharp?
Dulton warns that the rim has sharp spots and that a finger slid along it could be cut. It also says to keep it away from small children.
