Quick answer

Furukawashiko's Watashi Biyori die-cut sticky notes come as pads of 20 notes, each cut to the outline of a small animal or treat such as a bear, ghost or dog. Shops list each note within 70 × 70 mm. Retailers say they lift off cleanly, and Yoseka sells a pad in our $$ band ($5–20).

Notes on these facts
  • Made by Furukawa Shiko Co., Ltd. (Mino, Gifu). Made in Japan: The Journal Shop lists Japan as the country of origin and Paperwhisper writes 'Made in Japan' in its specifications (both read November 2, 2026). Yoseka doesn't state it, and Furukawashiko's own online shop was showing a maintenance page when we tried it. Source. Price: example listing.

Key takeaways

  • Each pad holds 20 die-cut sheets; Yoseka, The Journal Shop and Paperwhisper all say so.
  • The Journal Shop and Paperwhisper give a note size within 70 × 70 mm (2.8 × 2.8 in), while Yoseka gives 2.75 × 2.5 in (7 × 6 cm); Paperwhisper adds an 80 × 95 mm mount.
  • Yoseka lists 16 designs in two batches of eight, with barcodes running 4952270255016 to 4952270255085 and 4952270305384 to 4952270305452; The Journal Shop lists the second eight.
  • The Journal Shop and Paperwhisper say the adhesive peels off without residue and both give Japan as the country of origin; we haven't tested either claim.
  • Yoseka listed a pad in our $$ band ($5–20) on November 2, 2026; the maker's own shop was down for maintenance that day.

What are Watashi Biyori die-cut sticky notes?

They are sticky notes cut to the outline of their picture, so each pad is a little bear, ghost, bird or slice of toast. Furukawa Shiko, a paper maker in Mino, Gifu, sells them as part of its Watashi Biyori line. The Journal Shop calls the line “katanuki fusen”, the Japanese word for die-cut sticky notes.

Yoseka’s description says they suit short messages, gift-giving, reminders and decorating a journal. If you want stickers instead of notes, see our Furukawashiko washi flake stickers guide.

What size and how many sheets?

Each pad has 20 notes, and each note fits inside a 70 × 70 mm square. The three shops we read agree on the count and differ a little on the size.

Source (read November 2, 2026) Note size Sheets Other
The Journal Shop 70 × 70 mm (2.8 × 2.8 in) 20 Eight designs, Japan
Paperwhisper (Fluffy Dog) within 70 × 70 mm, varies by design 20 Mount 80 × 95 mm (3.1 × 3.7 in), Japan
Yoseka 7 × 6 cm (2.75 × 2.5 in) 20 16 designs

The pad sits on a card mount, which Paperwhisper gives as 95 mm high and 80 mm wide. That is the size to plan for in a drawer or a pen case.

Why do the sources disagree on the size?

Because a die-cut note’s size depends on its shape, and each shop gives one figure for sixteen shapes. Paperwhisper says outright that the size varies by design. A round bear and a tall ghost can’t both fill a square.

Yoseka's 70 × 60 mm note inside the 70 × 70 mm limit the other shops give, beside the 80 × 95 mm mount with the same square inside it
Why the two figures can both be true: 70 mm is the limit, and a note can be shorter than it. Original illustration made for this guide. © Stationery Times.

We read Yoseka’s 7 × 6 cm as the footprint of the design it measured, and 70 × 70 mm as the largest a note gets. That is our reading; no source says so. Furukawashiko’s own page would settle it, but its online shop showed a maintenance page on November 2, 2026.

How many designs are there?

Yoseka lists 16 designs, in two batches of eight. The first batch’s barcodes run from 4952270255016 to 4952270255085: Pudding, Cream Soda, Cake and Bear, Hedgehog Cup, Little Bird, Bowtie Cat, Little Stationery Helpers and Toast Table.

The second batch runs from 4952270305384 to 4952270305452: Ghost, Bread and Dog, Rabbit, Kitten Mug, Fluffy Little Bird, Fluffy Dog, Fluffy Bear and Fluffy Cat. The Journal Shop sells eight designs whose barcodes match this second batch, with its own names such as Obake (Friendly Ghost) and Balloon Rabbit. Names differ by shop, so search by barcode.

Do they stick and lift cleanly?

The shops say yes, and we haven’t tested it. The Journal Shop calls the notes re-adherable and says they stick firmly to paper yet peel off cleanly. Paperwhisper says the adhesive won’t leave residue on the notes beneath and that the paper works with any writing instrument.

Neither gives an adhesive strength or a number of re-sticks, and Furukawashiko’s own page wasn’t readable. Treat these as retailer claims.

Who is the Watashi Biyori for?

It suits people who decorate journals and planners with small shapes. Each pad gives 20 die-cut notes within 70 × 70 mm, and Yoseka lists them for decorating a journal.

  • Journaling and planning: the notes are already cut to their outline, so nothing needs trimming.

Skip it if you want a big writing surface: a note is 70 mm across at most. For a Furukawashiko paper that is a memo pad instead, see its Retro Matchbox Memo Pad; our journaling stickers roundup covers stickers and washi tape.

Where is it made, and what does it cost in the US?

In Japan, per The Journal Shop and Paperwhisper. Yoseka doesn’t state it and we couldn’t read the maker’s shop.

Yoseka listed a pad at US$6.00 on November 2, 2026, in our $$ band ($5–20), with all 16 designs on one product page. We haven’t checked other US shops, and JetPens and Amazon block our requests.

Frequently asked questions

How many sheets are in a Watashi Biyori sticky note pad?

Twenty. Yoseka, The Journal Shop and Paperwhisper each give 20 sheets per pad, and each pad carries one design.

How big is a Watashi Biyori die-cut note?

The Journal Shop and Paperwhisper say within 70 × 70 mm, and Paperwhisper adds that the real size varies by design. Yoseka lists 2.75 × 2.5 in (7 × 6 cm). Treat 70 mm as the limit.

Are Watashi Biyori sticky notes repositionable?

The Journal Shop calls them re-adherable and says they peel off cleanly, and Paperwhisper says the adhesive leaves no residue on the notes beneath. We haven't tested how many times a note re-sticks.

Can you write on Watashi Biyori notes with a fountain pen?

Paperwhisper says the paper works with any writing instrument, but no source tests fountain pens on it. Try your pen on a corner of the last sheet first.

What is a katanuki fusen?

It is the Japanese term The Journal Shop uses in the product name for a die-cut sticky note, one cut to the outline of its picture instead of a plain square.

Are Watashi Biyori notes made in Japan?

The Journal Shop and Paperwhisper both say yes. Furukawashiko's own shop was in maintenance when we checked, so we couldn't read what the maker says.

Do Watashi Biyori notes have barcodes I can search?

Yes. Yoseka lists a JAN code per design, from 4952270255016 to 4952270255085 and from 4952270305384 to 4952270305452, and The Journal Shop's codes for its eight designs match the second range.
