Notes on these facts
  • LAMY 2000: Made by C. Josef Lamy GmbH, Heidelberg (part of Mitsubishi Pencil Co., Ltd.). Made in Germany: LAMY's own product listing (India storefront) gives Germany as the country of origin and names C. Josef Lamy GmbH, Grenzhöfer Weg 32, Heidelberg, as the manufacturer. LAMY's German page names no country but calls LAMY a Heidelberg company and one of Germany's leading pen makers. Source. Released: LAMY's German site gives 1966 ("Seit 1966"), as do Wikipedia and most retailers; Fahrney's Pens gives 1973, which we treat as an outlier.
  • Kaweco Classic Sport: Made in Germany: Kaweco's German product page labels the Classic Sport "100% Made in Germany" and says all nibs and the pen itself are made in Germany; its series page says Classic Sport pens are produced and assembled in Germany. Cornelissen says hand assembled in Germany, and Milligram says designed and made in Germany. Source. Released: Kaweco dates the first Sport pocket pen to 1911; Pen Chalet says the Classic Sport follows the original 1935 design.
  • Fisher Space Pen Bullet: Made by Fisher Space Pen Co.. Made in United States: Fisher's own Bullet pages carry a made in USA notice, and GP Knives lists the country of origin as the United States. Wikipedia says the pens are manufactured in Boulder City, Nevada, and NASA's Spinoff describes Fisher as a Boulder City, Nevada-based company. Fisher's site and GP Knives refused our automated requests on October 20, 2026, so those two come from earlier reads and search snippets. Source. Released: Retailer copy (Fountain Pen Hospital) says Paul C. Fisher conceived the Bullet in 1948; the pressurized cartridge it uses today came later, with Fisher's first AG7 patent filed on May 19, 1965, per Wikipedia. We found no dated launch from Fisher itself.
  • rOtring 600: Made by rOtring, a Newell Brands company. Made in Japan: The Japanese retailer Maruzen Junkudo lists 原産国 日本 (country of origin: Japan) for the black 0.5 mm (1904443), and the distributor ADI Global Distribution gives Japan for the black and silver 0.5 mm, noting that country of origin is subject to change. Wikipedia says production moved to Japanese maker Holbein and other manufacturers after rOtring's Hamburg factory closed. rOtring's own site blocked our reader, so check the packaging. Source. Released: Wikipedia says the 600 was introduced in 1989, and Holbein's Japanese rOtring page says rOtring's writing-instrument series was announced in 1989; unsharpen says "the late 1980s". Maruzen Junkudo's Japanese listing says only "the 1980s".
  • Pentel GraphGear 1000: Made by ASTRUM Corporation (Tokyo), called Pentel Co., Ltd. until April 1, 2026; Pentel remains the brand. Made in Japan: Pentel of America's 2023–2024 product guide (and its 2022 catalog) gives the GraphGear 1000's origin as Japan, and PartsSource lists Japan as the country of origin for the PG1015A. Pentel's Japanese product page doesn't state it. Source. Released: Pentel's Japanese design archive and its October 9, 2025 news release both give 2002.
  • Pentel Sharp Kerry: Made by ASTRUM Corporation (Tokyo), called Pentel Co., Ltd. until April 1, 2026; Pentel remains the brand. Made in Japan: Pentel of America's 2022 product catalog gives the Sharp Kerry's origin (P1035 and P1037) as Japan. Yoseka Stationery and OnTimeSupplies (for the black P1035A) also say Japan. Pentel's Japanese product page doesn't state it. Source. Released: Pentel Japan's company history and its October 19, 2021 anniversary release give 1971, as do Yoseka Stationery, JetPens and The Pen Addict; retailers say the cap is engraved SINCE 1971.
  • Tactile Turn Titanium Bolt Action Pen: Made by Tactile Turn (Dallas, Texas). Made in United States: Tactile Turn's story page says every pen is still machined in Dallas, start to finish. Source.
  • BIGiDESIGN Ti Arto EDC pen: Made by Big Idea Design LLC (Chattanooga, Tennessee). Country of manufacture not stated: BIGiDESIGN says it is based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and sells a separate 'USA Made' collection, but this pen's page does not state where it is made, so check the label on your copy.
  • TRAVELER'S COMPANY Brass Ruler: Made by Designphil Inc. (Tokyo). Made in Japan: TRAVELER'S COMPANY's Japanese product page (BRASS RULER / ブラス 定規) states MADE IN JAPAN next to No.42167006 and calls the ruler a product of Made-in-Japan craftsmanship. Manufactum also says made in Japan. Source.
  • MD Notebook Goat Leather Cover: Made by Designphil Inc. (Tokyo). What should you check before buying?

Leather and brass change with age, which many owners see as a plus.

A mix. Tactile Turn says Dallas, LAMY says Heidelberg, Fisher lists the United States and TRAVELER’S COMPANY says Japan. See also best pencil sharpeners and best desk accessories.
