What is BGM Clear Tape Foil Stamping Life?
It is a transparent PET tape, 20 mm wide and 5 m long, printed with a pattern and finished with foil. The page or surface shows through the film, so only the artwork and the foil stay visible, and Yoseka says the designs “layer beautifully over your pages”.
Yoseka describes the Life series as a range of versatile designs that blend into everyday life without a fixed theme, and says the tape is made for planners, journals, letters and craft projects. BGM is a Tokyo stationery brand founded in 2016, according to the Swedish retailer Tidformera. We couldn’t read BGM’s own site, bgm.co.jp, from our servers, so this guide uses Yoseka (US), bungu.store (Japan) and Paper Whisper (Sweden), and says where they differ.

Which designs does Yoseka list?
Eight Life designs, in two price groups. Yoseka’s pages give the name, size, material and the series text; they don’t describe each design in words, so the list below is names and prices only.

Yoseka doesn’t say why the prices differ. The three at US$4.50 carry lower item codes than the five at US$6.00, which may mean an older batch, but that is our guess. Yoseka also lists a Summer Limited foil tape, Wave Shadows, at US$6.00 and marks its item code discontinued.
In Yoseka’s photos the strip laid out beside each roll carries the design: pebbles, four-leaf clovers with stars and a swallow, buttons on a string, birds, a shop front and café cup, shells and a starfish, a croissant and a wine bottle. Our cover colors are tints sampled from those strips.
How do the Japanese and Swedish shops compare?
They sell the same format at similar prices and use their own spellings of the names. bungu.store lists Life clear tape at ¥1,000 (about US$6.33) in two listings: one with Colorful Buttons, Pebble, Sweet Time, Lucky Charms and Little Days, and one with Melody, Ocean and Flower Vase. Flower Vase isn’t on Yoseka’s list. Paper Whisper lists Lucky, Pebble, Sweet Time, Little Days and Colorful Button at SEK 55 (about US$5.56) each, plus a Sky Picture Book design, Bubble, with silver foil, and a Summer Shaved Ice limited tape at SEK 58 (about US$5.86).

What can you stick it on?
Paper, and, according to Paper Whisper, smooth transparent surfaces as well. It names glass cups, acrylic organizers and plastic gift bags, which it can use because the PET is water-resistant. For pages, Yoseka suggests planners, journals, letters and craft projects.
Paper Whisper adds that you can use the tape as a continuous strip or cut the individual motifs into small pieces to use like stickers. We haven’t tested how cleanly it lifts, whether foil rubs off or how it takes a pen, and none of the three shops says. Test a scrap before putting it over writing you want to keep.
How is clear tape different from washi tape?
Clear tape is a transparent plastic film; washi tape is paper. With washi, the paper itself is part of the look, and with BGM clear tape the page shows through, so the design appears to sit directly on it. The Journal Shop lists BGM’s Life foil washi at 15 mm and Yoseka lists the slim washi at 5 mm, so the clear Life tape is the widest of the three.

Skip it if you want a tape you can write on or tear by hand: none of our sources says either, and PET film isn’t paper.
