What is the Sun-Star Pyokkori Stamp?
It is a small pre-inked stamp that prints an animal peeking up from a line, made for the borders of planner pages. Sun-Star Stationery, the Japanese maker, sells it in two volumes of six animals each.
Paperwhisper says each block carries a small alignment mark on its side. Line the mark up with a border in your planner and the animal appears to pop out of the edge.

Which animals can you choose?
Volume 1 has six: Shiba dog, cat, rabbit, otter, hedgehog and sloth; volume 2 adds six more. Volume 2’s list, from Sun-Star’s Japanese page, is a squirrel, penguin, seal, long-tailed tit, axolotl and garden eel.
Sun-Star lists a separate JAN barcode for each animal, so each one is sold as its own stamp. Yoseka’s description says each stamp holds three stacking blocks with three poses.
How is it packaged?
Sun-Star sells it in a stand-up blister pack with the stamp shrink-wrapped to the card. The package is about 65 × 110 × 32 mm and the whole thing weighs about 28 g, per Sun-Star’s Japanese page, so it stands on a shop shelf as a small retail pack.
Sun-Star’s note says the design on the pack may differ from the real product, and that screen colors may differ from the real thing.
How does the ink work?
The stamp is pre-inked with dark gray oil-based pigment ink, so no pad is needed. Sun-Star lists the ink; Paperwhisper adds that the soft dark gray blends with most planner lines.
Retailers say you can color over the print with water-based pens and markers. That is the same trick as the Midori Paintable Stamp Half Size, and a soft highlighter works well.
Is it an award winner?
Sun-Star says so: it took first place in the stamp category of the Bungu-ya-san Taisho 2025 book. The company’s February 25, 2025 notice lists the Pyokkori Stamp as first and its Stickyle Stamp as third in that category. The book, from Fusosha, went on sale February 14, 2025.
We haven’t seen the book itself, so we rely on Sun-Star’s notice.
How much does it cost?
Sun-Star lists ¥968 (about US$6.10) with tax in Japan. Yoseka listed it at US$11.00 on November 1, 2026. That puts it in our $$ band ($5–20).
Who is the Sun-Star Pyokkori Stamp for?
It suits planner and journal users who like decorating borders and don’t need text or dates. It prints one animal in one gray; the best stamps for journals and planners has options with text and dates. For another Sun-Star desk piece, see the Sun-Star UFO Flat Pouch.
What are the downsides?
You get one fixed animal per stamp, in gray only, and the print size isn’t published. Sun-Star gives the block size, not the size of the impression, so measure against your planner. Sun-Star doesn’t publish a dry time, so let a print sit before you close the page.
Where is it made?
Sun-Star’s Japanese product pages list China. Sun-Star Stationery is a Japanese brand.
