Shop staff voted for its joke before it even went on sale, and the head judge says it also hits real trends. The idea award (アイデア賞) is one of four headline prizes in the Bungu-ya-san Taishō 2026, announced February 14, 2026; see the Bungu-ya-san Taishō 2026 winners.
Head judge Yoshinori Takagi wrote that Sun-Star “seems to have been taken over by UFOs,” and that its gentle joke cheers up stores in hard times. He added that neon colors from the Heisei-retro revival and the habit of showing off favorite fan goods on a bag put it in the middle of current trends. Another judge noted the reflector makes it safer on a bag at night.
