What is the Sun-Star DELDE pen pouch?
It is a soft canvas pouch from Japan’s Sun-Star that converts into a pen stand: pull the two side tabs down and your pens rise out of the top. US retailers usually call it the DELDE Slide Pen Pouch; in Japan Sun-Star sells it simply as the pen case DELDE.
Sun-Star’s launch page pitches it as a pouch that turns into a pen stand in three seconds and holds plenty of pens and scissors, with short pens still easy to reach. Kakaku Magazine dates the launch to February 2016.

Launch figures come from Sun-Star’s Japanese DELDE page, which we read on October 22, 2026; the current size comes from the Amazon US listing. Sun-Star’s newer product page for the DELDE no longer loads, so we can’t confirm today’s Japanese price.
How does the slide mechanism work?
Sun-Star’s three steps: stand it on the desk and unzip the top, pull the side tabs down, and the pens stand up ready to grab. The outer sleeve slides down around an inner pocket, so the pens end up sticking out of a shorter cup.
Because the pens rise rather than sit deep in a bag, short items such as erasers and pencil stubs stay easy to reach, which Sun-Star lists as one of its aims. With the tabs back up and the zip closed, it is an ordinary pouch again.
How many pens does it really hold?
Sun-Star says up to about 35 pens. That figure assumes slim pens packed upright; thicker items such as highlighters, a ruler or scissors take the room of several pens.
We haven’t counted a mixed load ourselves yet, so use 35 as the maker’s maximum rather than a comfortable everyday load.
How does it compare with other stand pen cases?
The DELDE is the softest and widest of the popular Japanese stand cases.

What styles are there?

Sun-Star also invites you to decorate the canvas with pin badges or appliqués. Later DELDE spin-offs include slim, flat and phone-stand versions such as the Smand. Sun-Star’s UFO Flat Pouch won the 2026 Bungu-ya-san Taishō idea award.
Where is the DELDE made?
In China: Sun-Star’s Japanese launch page lists China as the country of production. Sun-Star itself is a Japanese stationery maker.
