What is the LIHIT LAB Smart Fit Double Pen Case?
It’s two zippered pen cases joined back to back: a book-type case that opens flat, and a pouch-type case for bulky tools. LIHIT LAB, an Osaka stationery maker, sells it in Japan as the SMART FIT bright label ダブルペンケース (double pen case).
LIHIT LAB’s reasoning, from its 2015 launch press release: colored pens are easier to find laid out in a book-type case, while correction tape, sticky notes and rulers go in and out more easily from a roomy pouch. So it put both in one case.

Everything above comes from LIHIT LAB’s Japanese catalog pages, which we read in full. The L sells for ¥1,815 (about US$11) including tax on LIHIT LAB’s web store, where its barcodes are 4903419821074 (Black) and 4903419821067 (Blue).
How does the double design work?
The book side holds pens under rubber belts, and the pouch side is an open compartment with a small stretch pocket. LIHIT LAB says the belts are rubber rather than fabric loops, so they grip pens even when you carry only a few.
On the pouch side, LIHIT LAB describes a small-item pocket made of stretch fabric for erasers and spare leads. Amazon US’s listing says the two compartments zip together for safe storage.
How many pens does it hold?
LIHIT LAB says about 12 pens for the L and about 10 for the S. It doesn’t split that figure between the two sides.
At 220 mm (8.7 in) long, the L is longer than most full-size pens, which is why LIHIT LAB says it also takes an 18 cm ruler and scissors. The S was the compact choice: LIHIT LAB pitched it as big enough for ballpoint pens.
Is the S size discontinued?
Yes: LIHIT LAB’s Japanese catalog says the S (A-7660) went out of production on October 23, 2025, with no replacement. Its English site also marks it discontinued.
Some US shops and Amazon listings still carry S stock, sold as the 3.3 × 6.9 in Double Pen Case. The L (A-7661) is still in LIHIT LAB’s catalog and web store, so it is the one to buy if you want a case you can replace later.
What colors are there?
In Japan, LIHIT LAB now lists two colors: 8 Blue and 24 Black. The number in each item code is the color, so A7661-24 is the black L.
When it launched on February 25, 2015, the bright label range came in brighter colors, and the double pen case was offered in orange, yellow, green, blue and black. Amazon US still lists a green L (A7661-7), so older colors turn up from US sellers.
How much does it cost?
The L sits in our $$ band ($5–20) at the US listings we checked, including Amazon US. LIHIT LAB’s Japanese list price is ¥1,650 (about US$10) before tax.
That’s up from launch: LIHIT LAB’s 2015 press release priced the L at ¥1,200 (about US$7.60) and the S at ¥1,050 (about US$6.60), both before tax.
How does it compare with other LIHIT LAB and KOKUYO cases?
It’s the only one here that combines a book-type side with a separate pouch.
| LIHIT LAB Double (L) | LIHIT LAB Teffa Book Style | KOKUYO C2 (L) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Size | 220 × 45 × 105 mm (8.7 × 1.8 × 4.1 in) | 200 × 120 × 50 mm (7.9 × 4.7 × 2.0 in) | 200 × 50 × 50 mm (7.9 × 2.0 × 2.0 in) |
| Layout | Book side plus pouch side | Opens flat like a book | Opens into a tray |
| Best for | Pens plus ruler and scissors | Many pens on show | Desk use |
Teffa and C2 figures come from their guides. If you’d rather stand your pens up on the desk, LIHIT LAB’s ACTACT Stand Pen Case turns into a pen cup, and our best pencil cases roundup covers more styles.
What are the downsides?
There’s no published split of capacity between the two sides, and the S size is gone. The 45 mm depth is shared between two compartments, so each side is slimmer than a single pouch of the same size.
Color choice has also narrowed to blue and black in LIHIT LAB’s current range.
Where is the LIHIT LAB Smart Fit Double Pen Case made?
LIHIT LAB doesn’t say: its catalog and web store pages for the A-7661 list no country of production, and neither does the Amazon US listing. One Amazon US reviewer says theirs was made in Vietnam, but we don’t state origin from a single review. LIHIT LAB itself is Japanese: its Amazon US brand panel says it began making office supplies in Osaka in 1938.
