  • Price bands are typical US retail, checked October 2026. Conversions to US dollars are approximate, at October 2026 rates (US$1 = ¥158 = ₩1,330 = NT$32.5 = CN¥6.7 = SEK 9.9 = DKK 6.7 = ₺49.6 = C$1.41 = A$1.43 = CZK 21.7; €1 = US$1.12; £1 = US$1.32; CHF 1 = US$1.21).

Key takeaways

  • Sanby lists three sizes: S with an 18 mm square face, M with 24 mm and L with 36 mm, each sold in a plastic case.
  • The S body is 103 × 24 × 24 mm, the M 127 × 27 × 29 mm and the L 147 × 38 × 38 mm, so even the L is slimmer than most rotating journal date stamps.
  • Sanby says the date part can be left blank, which turns the stamp into a frame stamp for your own writing.
  • A stamp pad is not included; Sanby's page says you need to buy one separately.
  • Sanby's tax-included prices are 3,300 yen (about US$20.89) for the S, 3,960 yen (about US$25.06) for the M and 5,280 yen (about US$33.42) for the L; the page gives no country of manufacture.

What is the Sanby eric Date Stamp?

It is a date stamp whose face carries illustrations by the eraser-stamp artist eric. Sanby, an Osaka maker of seal and stamp products, says the artist’s cute illustrations have become a date stamp for decorating schedule books and notebooks. The artist works under the name Hello, Small Things! and makes stationery with several makers.

Sanby lists it in three sizes with a plastic case. The page also notes that the stamp needs a separate stamp pad, so budget for one; see our Versacraft Soramame ink pad for a small pigment pad.

What sizes and prices does it come in?

S, M and L, from 3,300 yen (about US$20.89) to 5,280 yen (about US$33.42) with tax. Sanby gives the sizes below.

How does it compare with a rotating date stamp?

It is much slimmer than Midori’s rotating date stamp. Midori’s Paintable Rotating Date Stamp is 104 mm tall but 60 mm wide and 38 mm deep and holds its own ink pad. The eric S is a similar height at 24 mm wide and deep, but it has no ink. Sanby’s page doesn’t say how the date is set, so check the product before buying if you need to know.

What can you do with the blank date?

Sanby says you can leave the date part empty and use it as a frame stamp. That makes the artwork a border for a short note or a checklist item instead of a fixed date. The same idea suits the smaller Daigo isshoni. Point Stamp, which prints to-do and check marks.

How do you choose a size?

Match the face to the box you stamp into. The S face is 18 mm square, which is smaller than a typical monthly-calendar day box; the M at 24 mm and the L at 36 mm suit a notebook page, a letter or a card. Sanby’s case dimensions show how much shelf room each takes: 113 × 32 × 31 mm for the S, 134 × 40 × 35 mm for the M and 157 × 44 × 50 mm for the L.

The three sizes carry the same line of artwork scaled to the face, per Sanby’s photos, so the difference is mostly space and price, not design.

What else does the eric line include?

Sanby’s artist range includes sealing stamps, ink pads and acrylic stand stamps. Our guides cover the eric absorbent stamps, the eric acrylic stand stamps and the eric and ob1 sealing wax sets.

Where is it made, and what does it cost?

Sanby’s page doesn’t give a country of manufacture. Sanby is a Japanese company founded in 1921 with its head office in Osaka and bases in Thailand and Taiwan, so check the label on your copy. The prices put the S, M and L in our $$$ band ($20–75).
