What is StazOn Onamae?
It is a StazOn pad made for putting names on things. Tsukineko calls it an innovative all-surface ink pad that makes writing names easy and clean, especially when children start daycare or school. The ink is the same solvent-based, quick-drying pigment ink as other StazOn pads.
Our StazOn guide covers the standard pad, and the StazOn Pigment guide the opaque one.
Which colors are there?
White, black, pastel blue and pastel pink. White and black are the practical ones for dark and light items; the two pastels are for fun. Only white and black have an inker.

What does it stamp on?
Almost anything. Tsukineko lists plastic, metal, shrink plastic, rubber, leather, polymer clay, laminated and coated paper, plain paper, photos, glass, ceramic, terracotta, transparency film, painted surfaces and cloth. Drying is about 3 seconds on absorbent surfaces and up to 5 minutes on non-absorbent ones.
How do you clean up?
Clean the stamp soon after use. Tsukineko says to remove ink with StazOn Cleaner or StazOn Solvent and then wipe with water. On slippery non-absorbent surfaces a failed print can also be removed with the cleaner or solvent. It warns that acrylic clear stamps may be damaged by the solvent, so test first.
Why use it over the regular pad?
It comes in white and pastels, and it is made for names. The inkers in white and black are the same ink as StazOn Pigment’s Snowflake and Piano Black, so you can fill either pad from the same bottle.
What should you watch for?
Slippery surfaces, clear stamps and drying out. Tsukineko warns to be careful on slippery materials, that on absorbent materials the ink may not turn opaque, and to close the lid right after use to stop the pad drying. If the surface hardens, try StazOn Solvent first and refill from the inker if the color then looks pale.
How does it compare with StazOn Pigment?
It has the same size and the same ink for white and black. The StazOn Pigment pad is also 97 × 57 × 23 mm with a 76 × 35 mm face and costs the same, 900 yen before tax, but offers 12 opaque colors. Onamae offers four, with two pastels, and a smaller 10 ml inker against Pigment’s 15 ml.
Where is it made, and what does it cost?
Tsukineko’s page doesn’t give a country of manufacture. The company history lists a Yoshikawa, Saitama factory and a US subsidiary in Redmond, Washington, and says StazOn Onamae was announced in 2018. At 900 yen (about US$5.70) before tax the pad is in our $$ band ($5–20).
