It is a clear vinyl jacket made to wrap an A5 MD Notebook. MD PRODUCT says the transparent cover keeps the notebook clean without spoiling its appearance, and that you can still enjoy the cover design, illustrations and writing through it.

Which MD notebooks does the A5 cover fit?

The A5 MD Notebook, Cotton, Thick, Diary and Diary Thin. That is MD PRODUCT’s list. Yoseka adds the A5 Journal Frame and Dot Grid.

Two A5 notebooks take other covers. The 1 Day 1 Page A5 has its own cover that opens 11 mm wider, and the A5 Square has one too. The listing doesn’t say whether the plain A5 cover will stretch over either, so use the matching one.

Should the glassine jacket stay on?

Yes, according to MD PRODUCT. It says to put the cover on with the glassine paper still wrapped around the notebook, because that softens the inorganic feel of the vinyl.

The cover protects against dirt and, in MD PRODUCT’s words, subtly against water. It doesn’t claim a waterproof rating, and we haven’t tested one.

The A5 is the largest at 315 mm open of the four in the table above, and the 1 Day 1 Page cover is wider still at 326 mm. The 1 Day 1 Page cover is ¥550 (about US$3.50), which makes it the dearest we read.

How does the pen holder work?

It is a loop with a 10 mm inner diameter on the A5, A6 and B6 Slim covers. A pen barrel thicker than 10 mm won’t go through it.
