The Filofax Clipbook A5 is a lighter, cheaper take on the Filofax ring organiser: a flexible leather-look cover on six 25 mm rings that open when you pull the cover. Filofax lists it at 212 × 185 mm and says it takes all Filofax A5 refills. It comes with undated diary pages and notepaper.

What is the Filofax Clipbook?
It’s a Filofax ring organiser with a soft, flexible cover instead of a stiff leather one: you pull the cover to open the rings. Filofax says the cover lies flat and folds back on itself, and the capacity expands when you add pages and shrinks when you take them out.
The Gentleman Stationer describes it as Filofax’s six-ring option beside its Filofax Notebook line. Filofax, a British brand founded in London in 1921, sells the Clipbook in Personal, A5 and A4.

Filofax’s two stores agree on height, width and ring size but not depth; we draw it at the US figure. The US print-to-order Clipbooks list the same fill without the fold-out planners.
How does the Clipbook ring mechanism work?
The six rings open when you pull the two covers apart, then close again when you let go. There’s no lever, so you can add or move a page with one movement.
The rings also stand out of the spine on the outside, and Filofax suggests hanging keys or charms on them. The Gentleman Stationer notes the binding will look familiar to anyone who has used a Filofax.
What refills fit the Clipbook A5?
Any Filofax A5 organiser refill, Filofax says, plus Clipbook-branded refills and your own paper punched with a Filofax punch. A5 sheets are 148 × 210 mm, the standard size in our paper sizes guide.
The Gentleman Stationer measured the included paper at 80 gsm and saw minor bleed-through with liquid inks. If you use fountain pens, punch heavier paper.
How much does the Clipbook A5 cost?
In the US, Filofax’s own A5 Clipbooks fall in our $$$ band ($20–75 for a binder with its fill). On October 21, 2026 Filofax US listed its print-to-order A5 designs at US$37; they take an extra 5 to 7 days because they’re printed to order.
Filofax UK lists the Classic Monochrome A5 at £21 (about US$28) and had it on sale when we checked. The Amazon US listings we saw came from third-party sellers, with prices varying widely.
Clipbook or a leather Filofax organiser?
Choose the Clipbook for a light, flexible A5 planner on a budget, and a leather organiser for a stiff cover that lasts for years. The Filofax Original Personal is a $$$$ leather organiser on 23 mm rings with smaller 95 × 171 mm pages.
