Which Ecridor finish should you choose?
Pick by the pattern, because the mechanism and size are the same. Heritage is the plainest, with hexagons that Caran d’Ache calls enduring symbols of its Geneva manufacture. Avenue has a matte micro-blasted finish and a guilloche pattern said to represent both Geneva’s cobblestones and the links of a watch strap. Damier has a checkered guilloche; Caran d’Ache says its platinum finish is the one offered in all four writing modes.
How do you refill and look after it?
Remove the push-button: the lead reservoir and the eraser are underneath. Caran d’Ache says the Damier is a refillable pencil with an eraser and lead reservoir accessible by removing the push-button, and sells 0.7 mm graphite leads and replacement erasers as refills. The Heritage and Avenue pages say the same about the replaceable eraser positioned under the button. All three versions come in a presentation box: a standard case for Heritage and Damier (the Damier with a removable red sleeve, a warranty and a user guide) and a standard black box for Avenue. Caran d’Ache’s site also offers an engraving for an extra US$20 on each pen, and free gift wrap with a personalized message.
How does it compare with other luxury pencils?
It is mid-priced among the luxury pencils and the only one here with a hexagonal brass body. Prices are the makers’ US listings on November 3, 2026.
It sits in our $$$$ band (over $75): US$220.75 to US$265 on Caran d’Ache’s US shop. All three were shown as out of stock with “available soon” on November 3, 2026. The cheaper Caran d’Ache Fixpencil starts at US$43, and our CEO writing collection puts them all side by side.
Where is the Ecridor pencil made?
Caran d’Ache’s US product pages list it as Swiss Made.
