Notes on these facts
  • Made by Itapec S.r.l. (owner of the Parafernalia brand since 2024, Milan, Italy). Made in Italy: Parafernalia's 'Parafernalia oggi' page says Itapec S.r.l. bought the brand in 2024 and that production stays entirely in Italy, in Milan, with its longtime production partners. The Linea page itself doesn't name a country. Source. Price: example listing.
  • Colors: names per Parafernalia Italy, checked October 28, 2026. The 10 colors in Parafernalia's shop for the Linea, with the maker's Italian names. Parafernalia's description text names only four (Alluminio, Blu, Nero, Titanio), so the shop's list is newer or the text is out of date. Tints were sampled from Parafernalia's product photos of each color. Tints are representative, not measured. Shops stock different colors.

  • Parafernalia's shop sells it in 10 colors at one price of €53 (about US$59), although its description text mentions only four.
  • Parafernalia says the Linea was used in Ridley Scott's 1979 film Alien; Gessato repeats the claim, and we couldn't confirm it from the film.

What is the Parafernalia Linea lead holder?

It is a 2 mm lead holder in anodised aluminium, designed by Sergio Carpani for the Milan brand Parafernalia. Parafernalia’s Italian page calls it a true technical tool for creatives, and a drop-lead holder (portamine a mina cadente) built for architects, designers and “creators of emotions”.

Gessato, a design site, describes an aluminium body with rubber accents and a lead dispenser. Our Parafernalia story covers the brand, and our lead holders guide compares the usual 2 mm models.

Everything here comes from Parafernalia’s Italian product page, which we translated. The page doesn’t say where the rubber sits; a retailer lists a rubberised grip.

How does a lead holder like the Linea work?

You press the top button to open the grip, let the lead drop to the length you want, and release. The Online Pen Company describes the Linea this way: a clutch pencil whose push-down button lets the lead drop freely. Parafernalia calls it a drop-lead holder.

Unlike a click pencil, you set the lead by hand each time. That is how a 2 mm lead holder is meant to work, and it lets you keep a long point for sketching or a short one for hatching.

What leads does the Linea take, and where do you buy them?

It takes 2.0 mm leads, and Parafernalia sells packs of 12 made for it. The packs are 2.0 mm across and 90 mm long, either black 2B or assorted colors, at €5 (about US$5.60) each.

The Online Pen Company lists the lead supplied with its Linea as HB. Any standard 2 mm lead should fit, but Parafernalia doesn’t say so, so check the diameter on the pack. Our mechanical pencil lead guide covers lead grades.

Was the Linea really in the film Alien?

Parafernalia says so, naming Ridley Scott’s 1979 film. Its page states that the Linea was used in Alien, and Gessato repeats the claim without a source.

We couldn’t find the prop in a film credit or an independent review, so treat it as the maker’s claim.

What colors does the Linea come in?

Ten on Parafernalia’s shop: Alluminio, Titanio, Palladio, Nero, Blu, Turchese, Verde bandiera, Arancio, Rosso and Viola. They are anodised colors on the same body, all at one price.

The page’s description says only four colors: aluminium, blue, black and titanium. The shop’s list is longer, so we use it.

How does the Linea compare with other 2 mm lead holders?

It is the longest of the four we can compare, about as slim as the Staedtler, and the only one in colored anodised aluminium. Sizes come from the makers’ pages as given in our lead holders guide, and Parafernalia’s page for the Linea.

Parafernalia’s other lead holder, the Diamante, takes a thick 5.6 mm lead and weighs 23 g.

Where is the Linea made, and what does it cost?

Parafernalia says its production stays entirely in Italy, in Milan. Its “Parafernalia oggi” page says Itapec S.r.l. bought the brand in 2024 and kept production in Milan. The Linea page itself doesn’t name a country.

On October 28, 2026 Parafernalia’s Italian shop listed it at €53 (about US$59) in every color, which puts it in our $$$ price band, $20 to $75 per pen. The Online Pen Company’s UK listing showed £43.95 (about US$58) before marking the pen no longer available, so we can’t point to a US seller. Shipping and import costs outside the EU are not included.
