## Key takeaways

- Three lengths (standard, short, mini) and three finishes (machined, stonewashed, DLC) in titanium.
- The store data lists 37 g, 34 g and 31 g for the three lengths.
- Prices on October 31, 2026: US$99 machined, US$119 stonewashed, US$179 DLC.
- The standard length comes with a Pilot G2 0.7 mm; short lengths come with a Schmidt EasyFlow 9000 medium.
- Tactile Turn says every pen is machined in Dallas, start to finish.

## What is the Tactile Turn Bolt Action Pen?

**It is a capless titanium pen worked by one fluid bolt motion.** Tactile Turn says the unusual bolt shape advances or retracts the refill in a single movement, and that the inside surfaces are machined extra smooth so the action feels satisfying. It describes titanium as durable, lightweight and corrosion resistant, and says that if there is one pen it recommends to new customers, it is the Titanium Bolt Action.

## Which length and finish should you pick?

**Length and finish are separate choices, and the finish sets most of the price.** As of October 31, 2026 the store lists:

| Finish | Standard | Short | Mini |
|---|---|---|---|
| Machined | US$99 | US$99 | US$99 |
| Stonewashed | US$119 | US$119 | US$119 |
| DLC | US$179 | US$179 | US$179 |

The listed weights are 37 g, 34 g and 31 g for standard, short and mini, and stock varies by variant, so some combinations were out of stock on the day we looked.

## What refills does it take?

**Pilot G2 in the standard length, Schmidt EasyFlow in the short ones.** Tactile Turn's refill guide says the standard comes with a Pilot G2 0.7 mm and lists, among others, the Pilot Hi-Tec-C, Pilot Precise and Lamy M63 as fitting without modification. Some gel refills, such as the Pentel Energel and Uni-ball Signo, need 1 to 2 mm trimmed. Short lengths take ballpoint refills like the Schmidt P900.

## How does it compare with the slim version and the BIGiDESIGN pens?

**It is the thicker, plainer model.** The [Slim Bolt Action](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/tactile-turn-slim-bolt-action-pen/) is lighter, and the [Side Click](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/tactile-turn-side-click-pen/) swaps the bolt for a click. [BIGiDESIGN's Bolt Action Pen](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/bigidesign-bolt-action-pen/) offers brass, copper and zirconium for the same US$100 base.

## What can you add at checkout?

**Engraving, a damascus bolt and a handedness choice.** The product page offers custom text on the clip, up to 20 characters on one line in four fonts, for US$10, and a titanium damascus bolt for US$20. Left-handed buyers can order the clip orientation; separate Lefty Bolt Action runs move the bolt to the other side. Those add-ons push a machined pen from US$99 to US$129 by our arithmetic.

## Is the DLC worth the extra?

**That depends on whether you care about a black finish more than US$80.** DLC is Tactile Turn's hard matte-black coating, and it costs US$179 against US$99 for machined, almost double. The machined pen is the same titanium, the same mechanism and the same length options; only the surface and price differ. We have not worn any finish, so we cannot say how long the coating lasts.

## Where is it made, and what does it cost?

**Dallas, Texas, according to Tactile Turn.** Its story page says every pen is machined there, start to finish. The Machined titanium at US$99 is in our $$$$ band (over $75), and Tactile Turn lists a lifetime warranty.
