## What is the Sanby eric absorbent stamp?

**It is a small, ready-to-use stamp with a built-in ink supply and an illustration by the eraser-stamp artist eric.** Sanby, the Osaka stamp maker, calls the type 浸透印, an absorbent or impregnated stamp. Sanby says you can press it without a stamp pad, and that it suits schedule books, notebooks, handmade cards and sticky notes.

There are nine designs. A pad is not needed, unlike the artist's [acrylic stand stamps](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/sanby-eric-acrylic-stand-stamp/).

## Which designs are there?

**Nine: Stamp, Sewing set, Key ring, Snack, Sweater, Things to Do, Bottle, Memo and Nice Holiday.** Sanby shows each as a small illustrated square with a few lines of text. All print in black, so you can color them afterward with pencils or markers.

## How big is it?

**The stamp is 35 × 35 × 38 mm with a 21 mm square face.** The package is 35 × 35 × 40 mm. The 21 mm face is small enough for a planner box or a note corner.

| | Value |
|---|---|
| Body | 35 × 35 × 38 mm |
| Package | 35 × 35 × 40 mm |
| Face | 21 mm square |
| Impressions | about 300 |
| Ink colour | black |
| Tax-included price | 770 yen (about US$4.87) |

Prices are Japanese prices at 158 yen to the dollar.

## How long does the ink last?

**Sanby rates it at about 300 impressions.** That is a rough count under Sanby's conditions, so stamping heavily on rough paper can use it faster. Sanby's page doesn't say the stamp can be re-inked, so treat each one as a consumable. For a stamp you can keep feeding, see the Midori [Paintable stamps](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/midori-paintable-stamp-half-size/) or the [Kodomo no Kao Pochitto Pick!](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/kodomo-no-kao-pochitto-pick-stamp/).

## What is it good for?

**It is a quick decoration for schedule books, handmade cards and sticky notes, per Sanby.** Designs like Things to Do and Memo suit list and note pages; Sewing set and Key ring are small icons for planner days. Sanby says fine patterns and letters print clearly.

## How does it compare with the rest of the eric range?

**It is the smallest and cheapest of the eric stamps we cover.** The 21 mm face is smaller than the 30 mm face of the [acrylic stand stamp](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/sanby-eric-acrylic-stand-stamp/), and at 770 yen (about US$4.87) it costs less than the stand stamp at 1,100 yen (about US$6.96), but it carries its own ink so you need no pad. The [eric date stamp](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/sanby-eric-date-stamp/) starts at 3,300 yen (about US$20.89) and also needs a pad.

| | Face | Needs a pad | Tax-included price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Absorbent stamp | 21 mm | No | 770 yen (about US$4.87) |
| Acrylic stand stamp | 30 mm | Yes | 1,100 yen (about US$6.96) |
| Date stamp S | 18 mm | Yes | 3,300 yen (about US$20.89) |

## Where is it made, and what does it cost?

**Sanby's page doesn't give a country of manufacture.** Sanby is a Japanese company founded in 1921, with its head office in Osaka and bases in Thailand and Taiwan. At 770 yen (about US$4.87) with tax the stamp falls in our $ band (under $5).
