# Notebook Sizes Chart: Moleskine, Leuchtturm1917 & More

> Most journals sit near A5 (148 × 210 mm, 5.8 × 8.3 in), but few match it exactly: the Moleskine Large is 13 × 21 cm, the Leuchtturm1917 Medium 145 × 210 mm, and the Hobonichi Cousin, Midori MD and MUJI A5 are true A5. Pocket books cluster at 9 × 14 cm, the Moleskine Pocket and Field Notes size.

## What are the most common notebook sizes?

**Notebook sizes follow paper standards loosely: A5 is the journal default, A6 and 3.5 × 5.5 in are the pocket sizes, and B5, A4 and US Letter are for study.** Brands then trim their own versions, which is why an "A5" notebook can be 130, 140, 145 or 148 mm wide. ## What sizes does Moleskine make?

**[Moleskine](../../brands/moleskine/) names its sizes rather than using paper standards: Pocket 9 × 14 cm, Medium 11.5 × 18 cm, Large 13 × 21 cm, XL 19 × 25 cm and XXL 21.6 × 27.9 cm.** Its FAQ says the range runs from XS (6.5 × 10.5 cm) to A3 (29.7 × 42 cm).

Lines are as Moleskine's own store lists them for the black Classic hard cover, the kraft Cahier set, the Volant set and the Reporter; colors and soft covers can differ. Inches for Pocket to XXL are Moleskine's US labels, though 18 and 25 cm convert to 7.1 and 9.8 in. The Reporter is the Pocket size turned to open at the top.
