We therefore state the material as MUJI USA words it, and don't call it solid wood. ## How does it compare with MUJI's other pencils? **It's the shortest and the only one with a wooden body.** | | Wooden Hex | [Aluminum](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/muji-aluminum-hexagonal-mechanical-pencil/) | [Low Center Gravity](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/muji-low-center-gravity-mechanical-pencil/) | |---|---|---|---| | Length | 13.0 cm | 13.5 cm | 14.7 cm | | Body | Synthesis cedar | Aluminum | ABS resin, polypropylene | | Lead included | 0.5 HB | Not stated | One HB | | Price band | $$ | $$ | $$ | MUJI USA also sells a wooden hex pencil with an eraser, in our $$ band, and MUJI USA lists a wooden hex ballpoint pen in the same style. For wooden pencils in general, see our [best wooden pencils for writing](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/best-wooden-pencils-for-writing/). ## What else comes in the wooden hex range? **MUJI USA lists a Wooden Hex Mechanical Pencil with Eraser 0.5mm at a lower price (US$5.90), and a Wooden Hex Ballpoint Pen 0.5mm (US$7.40).** The plain pencil is US$7.90. We haven't read the eraser pencil's page, so its size and materials are unconfirmed. MUJI USA's care note for the plain pencil says nothing about leads beyond the included HB, and MUJI sells 0.5 mm lead refills separately. ## Where is it made, and what does it cost? **In Japan: MUJI USA gives Japan as the country or region of origin.** The pencil is in our $$ band ($5–20). MUJI USA sells it as Final Sale, with no refunds or exchanges; we read the page on November 1, 2026, and prices change. ## Frequently asked questions ### Does the MUJI wooden mechanical pencil come with lead?
