**It's Moleskine's lightest everyday journal: a thin, flexible soft cover with rounded corners, sold in pairs, with pages you can tear out.** Moleskine describes Volants as lightweight, flexible journals in which every page is detachable for sharing notes and lists.

Each set holds two journals in contrasting shades, so you can split work and personal notes at a glance. The all-black set is the exception. This guide covers the Large; the XS and Pocket are listed below.

The page count comes from Vistaprint; the paper, cover, sizes and detachable pages from Moleskine's Italian product page, which also says the paper band's B-side works as an organizer for torn-out pages.

## What sizes does the Volant come in?

**Moleskine's Italian site lists three sizes: XS 6.5 × 10.5 cm, Pocket 9 × 14 cm and Large 13 × 21 cm.** Unsharpen gives the same figures.

A 2015 Drop listing also sold Extra Large Volants, but we didn't find them on Moleskine's current pages. On Moleskine's Estonian store, an XS set was €7.00 (about US$7.80) on October 20, 2026.

## Can you tear pages out of a Volant?

**Yes. Moleskine says every page is detachable, which is the Volant's main difference from most Moleskine notebooks.** The University of Calgary shop puts it as "tear and share: all pages detachable".

Older material differs: a Moleskine spec sheet for the Pocket says only the last 16 pages detach, and a library listing for the black Large says its last 16 sheets detach. If tearing out any page matters to you, check the band on the set you buy.


## How does the Volant compare to the Cahier and Classic?

**The Volant is the lightest of the three: the same 13 × 21 cm footprint, 96 pages, no pocket and no hard cover.**

A 2016 review on The Well-Appointed Desk found the Volant's paper slightly thicker than the Cahier's, with fewer pages, and noted that only the Cahier has a back pocket. Sources disagree on the Volant's binding: that review calls it perfect bound, while a library listing says thread bound.

## Is the Volant good for fountain pens?

**Moleskine doesn't market the Volant for fountain pens, and its 70 g/m² paper is the same weight as the Classic's.** We haven't tested it yet.

## Where is the Moleskine Volant made?

**We didn't find a country of manufacture for the Volant.** Moleskine's Italian product page and the retailer listings we checked don't state it. Moleskine is an Italian brand, and its Classic hard cover is listed as made in China, but that doesn't settle the Volant, so check the band on your set.

### How many pages are in a Moleskine Volant Journal?

The Large has 96 pages, or 48 sheets, according to Vistaprint. An older Moleskine spec sheet gives the Pocket 80 pages. Some reseller pages say 192 pages for the Large, which we think counts sheets as pages twice.

### What size is the Moleskine Volant Large?

It is 13 × 21 cm, about 5 × 8.25 inches, the same as a Moleskine Classic Large. The Pocket is 9 × 14 cm and the XS is 6.5 × 10.5 cm.

### Are Moleskine Volant pages perforated?

Moleskine's Italian site says "tutte le pagine sono staccabili": every page is detachable, so you can tear any sheet out cleanly. Some older listings say only the last 16 pages detach, so older stock may differ.

### What is the difference between Moleskine Volant and Cahier?
