Midori, the Designphil stationery brand, pitches it as a small communication item that makes both the writer and the reader smile. It suits a thank-you with a souvenir, a note on a gift or a message left on a desk. Japanese shop staff named it the letter winner (レター賞) of the [Bungu-ya-san Taishō 2026](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/bungu-ya-san-taisho-2026-winners/). ## Mogumogu Letter specs | Spec | Value | |---|---| | Maker | Midori (Designphil Inc., Tokyo) | | Contents | 6 letter sheets, 3 envelopes, 1 sticker sheet | | Letter sheet | 110 × 90 mm (4.3 × 3.5 in), lined | | Lines | 9, at 9 mm spacing (JetPens) | | Envelope | 63 × 96 mm (2.5 × 3.8 in), not for mailing | | Package | 131 × 115 × 5 mm | | Versions | Cat, rabbit, hamster, dog | | Price | ¥418 (about US$2.60) with tax | Sizes, contents and price are from Midori's online store; the line count is from JetPens. ![Midori Mogumogu Letter contents to scale: package, 90 × 110 mm sheet, 96 × 63 mm envelope and the sheet folded once](https://stationerytimes.com/images/midori-mogumogu-letter-contents.svg) *Package, sheet, envelope and the folded sheet, at 1 mm = 1.4 px.* ## How do the stickers work? **You seal the envelope flap with one of the stickers and use the rest to decorate the letter.** Midori describes them as animals and foods in unique poses, meant to make the reader smile. Each version is named for its animal: "seal with a cat", "seal with a rabbit", "seal with a hamster" and "seal with a dog". The envelopes are small, so the sheet folds once to fit. ## How does it compare with a full-size letter pad? **It is for short notes, not long letters: each sheet has about a quarter of the area of an MD Letter Pad sheet.** | | Mogumogu Letter | [Midori MD Letter Pad](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/midori-md-letter-pad/) | |---|---|---| | Sheet size | 110 × 90 mm | 210 × 168 mm | | Sheets | 6, with 3 envelopes | 50, envelopes sold apart | | Paper | Not named by Midori | Cream MD Paper | | Use | Gift notes, hand delivery | Letters you mail | The MD Letter Pad figures come from its guide. For decorating a longer letter, Midori's [Yuru Log stickers](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/midori-yuru-log-stickers/) add small illustrations in the same spirit. ## Which animal should you choose? **All four sets have the same contents and sizes; only the animal on the stickers and the design change.** Midori names each set after the animal that seals it. | Set | Japanese name | Midori code | |---|---|---| | Cat | ネコで封する もぐもぐレター | 86933006 | | Rabbit | ウサギで封する もぐもぐレター | 86934006 | | Hamster | ハムスターで封する もぐもぐレター | 86935006 | | Dog | イヌで封する もぐもぐレター | 86936006 | JetPens sells the cat set as "Hungry Cat", with a pink envelope. Buying two animals gives you 12 sheets and 6 envelopes, enough for a class or a team. ## What is it good for? **Short notes you hand over: a thank-you with a souvenir, a message on a gift, or a note left on a colleague's desk.** Midori lists those uses itself, and the envelopes are marked as not for mailing. The small sheet suits two or three sentences in a fine pen. For anything longer, or for a letter you post, a full-size pad and standard envelopes are the better choice. ## Can you buy it in the US? **Yes, as an import: JetPens listed the cat set in stock on October 23, 2026, in our $$ band ($5–20).** In Japan, Midori's store sells all four at ¥418 (about US$2.60) each. ## Where is the Mogumogu Letter made? **Midori doesn't say on its store pages, and JetPens doesn't list it either.** We list it as not stated until we can check a package. ## Frequently asked questions ### What does mogumogu mean?
