LIHIT LAB, Inc. is a Japanese stationery maker also known for the [Teffa book-style pen case](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/lihit-lab-teffa-book-style-pen-case/). The PuniLabo case is the animal-headed sibling of its plain [ACTACT Stand Pen Case](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/lihit-lab-actact-stand-pen-case/), and it's the one US shops push as a gift: Goulet carries a dozen designs, and the Amazon US listings for single designs gather hundreds of ratings each. ## PuniLabo Stand Pen Case specs **LIHIT LAB lists it at 60 × 60 × 200 mm, in silicone rubber, with room for about 15 pens.** | Spec | Value | |---|---| | Maker | LIHIT LAB, Inc. (Japan) | | Model | A-7712 (color codes -1 to -10) | | Size, closed | 60 × 60 × 200 mm (2.4 × 2.4 × 7.9 in) | | Material | Silicone rubber | | Capacity | About 15 pens (LIHIT LAB); 8–9 average pens (Goulet) | | Pen length | Under 7 in (178 mm), per Goulet | | Extras | Eraser holder in the lid | | Japanese list price | ¥1,800 (about US$11) before tax | | JAN, Shiba | 4903419819675 (A7712-2) | | Made in | Not stated | LIHIT LAB doesn't publish a weight. US prices run from the high teens to the mid twenties, so we've placed it in the $$$ band ($20–75), at its low end. ## How does the stand mode work? **Unzip the head, set the case on the desk and press it down: the soft bottom rises inside and lifts the pens into an open cup.** LIHIT LAB's store sums it up as "just press from above and it turns into a pen stand". To pack up, LIHIT LAB says to pull the bottom back out, then zip the head shut. The lid hides an eraser holder, so the eraser stays put in both modes, and LIHIT LAB suggests letting the head peek out of a bag as an accent. ## How many pens does it hold? **LIHIT LAB says about 15, but real-world counts are lower.** Goulet comfortably fit 8 to 9 average-sized pens, no taller than 7 inches, and Amazon's review summary says buyers are split on capacity. Pens longer than about 178 mm can stop the head from closing, and a full load makes the cup harder to push down. ## Which PuniLabo sizes and designs are there? **There's the standard case, a larger BIG, and the retro-café Kissa PuniLabo cases LIHIT LAB announced in February 2026, all in silicone.** ![LIHIT LAB silicone stand pen cases to scale: PuniLabo mini 180 mm, ACTACT 172 mm, PuniLabo 200 mm, PuniLabo BIG 209 mm](https://stationerytimes.com/images/lihit-lab-punilabo-stand-pen-case-sizes.svg) *LIHIT LAB's catalog sizes, drawn at 1 px = 1 mm.* | Case | Model | Size | Capacity | List price (before tax) | |---|---|---|---|---| | PuniLabo | A-7712 | 60 × 60 × 200 mm (2.4 × 2.4 × 7.9 in) | About 15 pens | ¥1,800 (about US$11) | | PuniLabo BIG | A-7714 | 72 × 72 × 209 mm (2.8 × 2.8 × 8.2 in) | About 22 pens | ¥2,000 (about US$13) | | Kissa PuniLabo | A-8812 | 60 × 60 × 200 mm (2.4 × 2.4 × 7.9 in) | About 15 pens | ¥1,700 (about US$11) | | Kissa PuniLabo mini | A-8811 | 52 × 52 × 180 mm (2.0 × 2.0 × 7.1 in) | About 8 pens | ¥1,400 (about US$8.90) | LIHIT LAB's catalog lists ten A-7712 designs: bear, Shiba, black cat, tuxedo cat, pig, panda, calico cat, Boston terrier, budgie and penguin. Goulet also sells Corgi, Fox, Raccoon, Koala and Squirrel versions with US product codes. ## How does PuniLabo compare to the KOKUYO Neo Critz? **Both turn into a pen stand, but PuniLabo is a squishy silicone cup and the [KOKUYO Neo Critz](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/kokuyo-neo-critz/) is a fabric case whose top folds down.** PuniLabo wipes clean and looks like a toy; the Neo Critz has a front pocket and holds longer pencils. For more options, see our roundup of the [best pencil cases](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/best-pencil-cases/). ## What are the downsides? **Real capacity is lower than LIHIT LAB's figure, and the silicone wears where you press it.** One buyer on LIHIT LAB's Japanese store says the bottom eventually cracks, and that each case lasted four years or more. ## Where is the PuniLabo Stand Pen Case made? **None of the LIHIT LAB pages or US listings we read state a country of origin.** LIHIT LAB is a Japanese company founded in 1938, but that isn't proof of where this case is made. Check the label or packaging if it matters to you. ## Frequently asked questions ### How does the PuniLabo pen case turn into a pen stand? Unzip the head and push the case down from above; the soft bottom rises inside and lifts your pens up into a cup. To pack it, pull the bottom back out and zip the head shut. ### How many pens fit in a PuniLabo Stand Pen Case? LIHIT LAB says about 15. Goulet comfortably fit 8 to 9 average pens, and Amazon reviewers are split, so plan on 10 or fewer if you want it to push down easily. ### How tall can pens be in the PuniLabo case? Goulet recommends pens under 7 inches (178 mm). The case is 200 mm (7.9 in) tall closed, so longer pencils may stop the head from zipping. ### What animals does PuniLabo come in? LIHIT LAB's catalog lists bear, Shiba, black cat, tuxedo cat, pig, panda, calico cat, Boston terrier, budgie and penguin. Goulet also sells US designs such as Corgi, Fox, Raccoon, Koala and Squirrel. ### What's the difference between PuniLabo and PuniLabo BIG? BIG (A-7714) is 72 × 72 × 209 mm and holds about 22 pens; the standard A-7712 is 60 × 60 × 200 mm and holds about 15. Both are silicone. ### Is the PuniLabo case washable? It's silicone, which Goulet calls easy to clean, and an Amazon listing says it can be wiped or rinsed with water. Dry it before you put pens back. ### How long does a PuniLabo case last? One Japanese buyer on LIHIT LAB's store says the bottom eventually cracks from being pushed, and that each case lasted four years or more over nine years of use. ### Is the PuniLabo case made in Japan? We can't confirm it. LIHIT LAB is a Japanese company, but its catalog, its store and the US listings we read don't state where the case is made. ## Sources - [SMART FIT PuniLabo スタンドペンケース (LIHIT LAB Japan catalog: A-7712, ¥1,800 before tax, 60 × 60 × 200 mm, about 15 pens, silicone rubber, 10 designs, eraser holder; read October 22, 2026)](https://www.lihit-lab.com/products/catalog/a-7712.html) - [SMART FIT PuniLabo スタンドペンケース (LIHIT LAB official online store: ¥1,980 with tax, JAN codes A7712-1 to -10, buyer reviews)](https://store.lihit-lab.com/products/a-7712) - [SMART FIT PuniLabo スタンドペンケース（ＢＩＧサイズ） (LIHIT LAB Japan catalog: A-7714, 72 × 72 × 209 mm, about 22 pens, ¥2,000)](https://www.lihit-lab.com/products/catalog/a-7714.html) - [喫茶プニラボ スタンドペンケース ｍｉｎｉ (LIHIT LAB Japan catalog: A-8811, 52 × 52 × 180 mm, about 8 pens, ¥1,400)](https://www.lihit-lab.com/products/catalog/a-8811.html) - [喫茶プニラボ スタンドペンケース (LIHIT LAB Japan catalog: A-8812, 60 × 60 × 200 mm, about 15 pens, ¥1,700)](https://www.lihit-lab.com/products/catalog/a-8812.html) - [LIHIT LAB news (February 2026): 昭和レトロな純喫茶を舞台にした PuniLabo シリーズ『喫茶プニラボ』が新発売 (Kissa PuniLabo stand pen case and mini)](https://www.lihit-lab.com/info/2026/02/cafe_punilabo.html) - [Goulet Pens: PuniLabo Stand Up Pen Cases (PU-A7712 designs; 8–9 average pens, under 7 in tall)](https://www.gouletpens.com/collections/punilabo) - [Amazon: LIHITLAB PuniLabo Stand Up Pen Case (2.4 × 7.8 × 2.4 in, up to 15 pens, eraser holder in the lid; 405 ratings; read October 22, 2026)](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N18298D)
