## Key takeaways

- A strip is 144 × 48 mm and holds six connected pieces of 24 × 48 mm; a pack has five strips, so 30 pieces, per Kobeha's shop.
- Kobeha cut each piece with slits, a curved notch and a fold line so it fits a nib's shape, and shows five steps from the tip to the grip section.
- Kobeha's shop listed it at ¥495 (about US$3.13) with tax on November 2, 2026, in our $ band (under $5); it says the pack is made in Japan.
- Kobeha says it won the Functionality Grand Prix at the 2015 Japan Stationery Awards; we couldn't check the award's own winners list.
- Kobeha gives no paper weight, ink compatibility or launch date, and we haven't tested it.

## What is Kobeha SUITO Cleaning Paper?

**It is a nib-wiping paper: small blotting-paper pieces cut so they hug the shape of a fountain pen nib.** Kobeha, the stationery label of Daiwa Shuppan Printing in Kobe, says it made SUITO for fountain pen users who are bothered by ink around the nib, and that the paper is a true absorbent "blotting paper" that soaks up ink and dries it faster.

Kobeha's own pages describe it as part of its fountain pen line, next to its [GRAPHILO notebook paper](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/kobeha-graphilo-a5-grid-notebook/). We read its English site and its Japanese online shop on November 2, 2026.

## What sizes and how many pieces come in a pack?

**A pack holds five strips of six pieces, so 30 pieces, and each piece is 24 × 48 mm.** Kobeha's shop gives both the piece and the strip size.

| Item | Size listed by Kobeha | Count |
|---|---|---|
| One piece | 24 × 48 mm (0.9 × 1.9 in) | 1 |
| One strip, six pieces joined | 144 × 48 mm (5.7 × 1.9 in) | 5 per pack |
| Pack | Not stated | 30 pieces |

Kobeha notes that a 144 mm strip is long enough to slip between the pages of a B5 or A5 notebook or planner. Tear a strip into pieces along the tear lines and it gets even smaller for a pen case.

## How do you wipe a nib with it?

**Tear off one piece, fold it on the center crease, then work through five short steps.** Kobeha's shop shows them in photos, and we read the captions.

![Five drawings of using a SUITO piece: tear one off, fold on the crease, wipe the nib wings and tip, soak up ink at the nib base in the notch, then bend into a U to wipe the grip section](https://stationerytimes.com/images/kobeha-suito-cleaning-paper-steps.svg?v=601accae)

*Kobeha's five steps, redrawn by us by eye and not to scale. Original illustration made for this guide. © Stationery Times.*

1. Tear off one piece.
2. Fold it as a valley fold along the crease.
3. Lay the nib along the crease and wipe both wings and the tip.
4. Use the curved cut-out to soak up ink at the base of the nib.
5. Bend the piece into a U and wipe the whole grip section.

Kobeha's idea is that you do the job with something made for it. It says tissue or low-dust paper often leaves ink on your fingers and that the job looks untidy.

## Why blotting paper instead of a tissue?

**Kobeha says blotting paper absorbs ink and speeds drying, which tissue and ordinary paper are not made to do.** Its page says pressing ink with a tissue can also squash the writing, a point it makes for the blotting paper sheet.

We haven't tested how SUITO compares with a tissue or a cloth, and Kobeha gives no paper weight or absorbency figure.

## Did SUITO win an award?

**Kobeha says so: the Functionality Grand Prix of the 2015 Japan Stationery Awards.** Its English page and Japanese product page both print the notice. We couldn't open the awarding body's site from here, so we treat this as Kobeha's claim, not a confirmed result.

## Who is the SUITO Cleaning Paper for?

**It suits people who carry a fountain pen with a notebook and want a small, shaped paper for wiping the nib on the go.**

- **Travel:** Kobeha says the 144 × 48 mm strip fits between the pages of an A5 or B5 notebook, and a torn-off 24 × 48 mm piece goes in a pen case.

Skip it if your pen is leaking ink inside the cap or section: Kobeha describes it for wiping the nib, not for flushing a pen. For that, see our [guide to cleaning a fountain pen](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/how-to-clean-a-fountain-pen/).

## How is it different from SUITO blotting paper?

**The cleaning paper wipes a nib; the blotting paper presses a written line.** Kobeha sells both from the same absorbent paper. The blotting paper is a sheet of 205 × 144 mm, five to a pack, listed at ¥385 (about US$2.44) with tax on November 2, 2026. Kobeha says it fits inside an A5 notebook and can be cut for smaller ones.

Kobeha tells buyers of either one to use the other too, and recommends the A5 blotting paper with its GRAPHILO notebooks. For other ways to stop smears and show-through, see [how to stop fountain pen ink bleeding](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/how-to-stop-fountain-pen-ink-bleeding/).

## Where is it made, and what does it cost?

**In Japan, per Kobeha's shop page, and at ¥495 (about US$3.13) with tax in Kobeha's own shop on November 2, 2026.** That is in our $ band (under $5). The shop is in Japanese.

We found no US retailer price. Yoseka Stationery's Kobeha collection held GRAPHILO notebooks and no SUITO that day, so a US buyer may need a Japanese shop or a shipping forwarder. Prices change; check the shop before you order.

## Frequently asked questions

### How many pieces are in a pack of SUITO cleaning paper?

Thirty. Kobeha's shop lists five strips of six pieces each, and each piece is 24 × 48 mm.

### Does SUITO cleaning paper work on every fountain pen?

Kobeha lists no pen or nib-size limits and says the pieces are cut to fit a nib's complicated shape. We haven't tested it on different nibs, so treat that as the maker's claim.

### Can SUITO remove dried ink?

Kobeha describes it for wiping leaked ink from the nib and speeding drying, not for dried ink. For a flush with water, see our guide to cleaning a fountain pen.

### Can you reuse a SUITO piece?

Kobeha doesn't say. It sells the paper as pieces you tear off one at a time, and a piece that has soaked up ink is not clean on the next use.

### How is SUITO different from SUITO blotting paper?

The cleaning paper is cut into small shaped pieces to wipe a nib. The blotting paper is a 205 × 144 mm sheet to press on a written line so it doesn't smear. Both use the same absorbent paper, per Kobeha.

### Can you buy SUITO cleaning paper in the US?

We didn't find a US shop with a price. Yoseka Stationery listed Kobeha GRAPHILO notebooks in its Kobeha collection on November 2, 2026, but no SUITO. Kobeha's own online shop is in Japanese.

### Is SUITO cleaning paper made in Japan?

Yes. Kobeha's shop page lists Japan as the place of manufacture, and the brand is run by Daiwa Shuppan Printing in Kobe.

### Does SUITO cleaning paper come in colors?

Kobeha's page and photos show white paper only, and it lists no color options.
