Kaweco's cartridge pages and the retailers we read don't state where the cartridges are made; the box says only "Germany, since 1883", the brand's founding. ## Key takeaways - Kaweco lists each cartridge at about 1 ml, six to a pack, for about 6 ml of ink per pack. - Kaweco sells 11 colors in 6-packs and a Mix 10-pack with one cartridge each of 10 colors. - Kaweco's German store lists a 6-pack at €1.95 (about US$2.20) and the Mix 10-pack at €6.95 (about US$7.80). - The ink is water-soluble and vegan, and Kaweco lists it as not document-proof and not erasable. - Royal Blue is item 10000256 with EAN 4250278602192. ## What are Kaweco ink cartridges? **They're Kaweco's own fountain pen ink cartridges in the standard international size.** Kaweco sells them in packs of six, one color per pack, and in a Mix pack of ten different colors. Kaweco traces its ink back to 1883, when, it says, its iron gall ink was already sold at a small shop near Heidelberg University. Today's cartridge ink is water-soluble and vegan, per Kaweco. ## Kaweco cartridge specs | Spec | Value | |---|---| | Maker | Kaweco (H&M Gutberlet GmbH), Germany | | Size | Standard international (Kaweco) | | Count | 6 per pack; Mix pack 10 | | Capacity | About 1 ml each (Kaweco) | | Ink | Water-soluble, vegan; not document-proof; not erasable | | Colors | 11 in 6-packs | | Item and EAN (Royal Blue) | 10000256, 4250278602192 | | Price in Germany | €1.95 (about US$2.20) per 6-pack; €6.95 (about US$7.80) Mix 10-pack | All figures are from Kaweco's German store pages, read October 29, 2026. The pocket [Kaweco Sport](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/kaweco-sport/) and [Kaweco Liliput](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/kaweco-liliput/) take short international cartridges, and Kaweco's are short. Our [guide to converters](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/fountain-pen-converters-explained/) explains which pens take international cartridges and converters. ## How do you fit one? **Unscrew the section with the nib, pull out the empty cartridge, and push the new one on firmly.** Kaweco's page gives those three steps; pushing the cartridge home pierces its seal. Hold the pen nib down for a moment so ink reaches the feed. When you change colors, Kaweco suggests flushing the pen with its cleaning syringe so the old ink doesn't tint the new. ## Which colors are there? **Eleven, plus the Mix pack.** Kaweco's selector lists Royal Blue, Pearl Black, Midnight Blue, Paradise Blue, Summer Purple, Ruby Red, Palm Green, Caramel Brown, Smoky Grey, Sunrise Orange (Sun Orange in the menu) and Glowing Yellow. Glowing Yellow is sold as a highlighter yellow. Kaweco's description of the Mix 10-pack names ten colors, all but Glowing Yellow, and Kaweco says Pearl Black gives the opacity you need for drawing. ## How do Kaweco cartridges compare to LAMY T10s? **They hold a little less ink and fit far more pens.** | | Kaweco cartridges | [LAMY T10](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/lamy-t10-ink-cartridges/) | |---|---|---| | Shape | Standard international | LAMY's own | | Per cartridge | About 1 ml | 1.25 ml | | Per pack | 6 (about 6 ml) | 5 (6.25 ml) | | Colors | 11 | 7 | | German list price | €1.95 (about US$2.20) | €2.10 (about US$2.40) | Neither fits the other's pens, so the choice is made by the pen you own. Our roundup of [fountain pen ink cartridges](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/best-fountain-pen-ink-cartridges/) covers more brands. ## Can you buy Kaweco cartridges in the US? **Yes, from US shops, though not from Kaweco directly right now.** On October 29, 2026, Kaweco's store said it couldn't accept orders to the US because of high import and customs fees, and pointed buyers to US specialty retailers. That day, Yoseka Stationery listed a 6-pack at US$4.50 with 11 color options, most of them sold out. That keeps a pack in our $ band, under $5. ## Where are Kaweco cartridges made? **Kaweco doesn't say.** The pack reads "Germany, since 1883", which is the brand's home and founding year, not a statement of where the cartridges are filled, and the product pages don't name a country. ## Frequently asked questions ### Do Kaweco cartridges fit other brands' pens? Yes, if the pen takes standard international cartridges, as many European pens do. They don't fit pens with their own cartridge shape, such as LAMY, Pilot, Platinum or Sailor. ### Do Kaweco cartridges fit the Kaweco Sport? Yes. The Sport and Liliput take short international cartridges, and Kaweco's own cartridges are that size. Long international cartridges don't fit those short barrels. ### How much ink is in a Kaweco cartridge? About 1 ml, per Kaweco's product pages, so a 6-pack holds about 6 ml. Kaweco doesn't give a figure for the cartridges in the Mix 10-pack. ### Is Kaweco Royal Blue erasable? No. Kaweco's own product page lists the Royal Blue cartridge ink as not erasable, so an ink eraser isn't a reliable way to correct it. ### What colors do Kaweco cartridges come in? Eleven in 6-packs: Royal Blue, Pearl Black, Midnight Blue, Paradise Blue, Summer Purple, Ruby Red, Palm Green, Caramel Brown, Smoky Grey, Sunrise Orange and Glowing Yellow, a highlighter yellow. ### Can Kaweco cartridges be refilled? Yes, with a blunt syringe and bottled ink, as with any international cartridge. Kaweco also sells a cleaning syringe for flushing a pen between colors. ### Is Kaweco ink waterproof? No. Kaweco calls the cartridge ink water-soluble and lists it as not document-proof, so it won't survive a spill. ## Sources - [Kaweco (Germany): Ink Cartridges Royal Blue 6-Pack (€1.95; item 10000256, EAN 4250278602192; about 1 ml each; international standard size; water-soluble, vegan; not document-proof, not erasable; 11 colors in the selector; read October 29, 2026)](https://www.kaweco-pen.com/en/Kaweco-Ink-Cartridges-Royal-Blue-6-Pack/10000256/) - [Kaweco (Germany): Ink Cartridges Pearl Black 6-Pack (€1.95; item 10000257)](https://www.kaweco-pen.com/en/Kaweco-Ink-Cartridges-Pearl-Black-6-Pack/10000257/) - [Kaweco (Germany): Ink Cartridges Highlighter Yellow 6-Pack (Glowing Yellow; €1.95; item 10001220, EAN 4250278612245)](https://www.kaweco-pen.com/en/Kaweco-Ink-Cartridges-Highlighter-Yellow-6-Pack/10001220/) - [Kaweco (Germany): Ink Cartridges Mix 10-Pack (€6.95; item 11000344, EAN 4251734923578; ten colors named)](https://www.kaweco-pen.com/en/Kaweco-Ink-Cartridges-Mix-10-Pack/11000344/) - [Kaweco (Germany): Ink Cartridges category (all 6-pack colors)](https://www.kaweco-pen.com/en/Accessoires/Ink/Ink-Cartridges/) - [Yoseka Stationery: Kaweco Ink Cartridges, 6pcs (US$4.50; 11 color options, most sold out; read October 29, 2026)](https://yosekastationery.com/products/kaweco-ink-cartridges-6pcs) - [LAMY (Germany): ink guide (T10: 1.25 ml per cartridge, five per pack), for the comparison](https://www.lamy.com/de-de/ink-guide) - [LAMY (Germany): LAMY T 10 Tinte (€2.10 per box of five), for the comparison](https://www.lamy.com/de-de/p/lamy-t-10-tinte)
