## Product facts

| Product | Brand | Brand origin | Made in | Material | Released | Price range (typical US retail, October 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hobonichi Clear Cover for HON, A6 Size / A5 Size | Hobonichi (by Hobonichi Co., Ltd. (Tokyo)) | Japan | Not stated | PVC | – | $$: $5–20 per item |

- Made in (Hobonichi Clear Cover for HON, A6 Size / A5 Size): Not stated. Hobonichi's product page lists size, weight and material but not a country of manufacture, and Yoseka's page doesn't state one either.

## Key takeaways

- Hobonichi lists the clear cover at 162 mm tall × 242 mm wide × 0.6 mm thick (6.4 × 9.5 in), about 23 g, in PVC; its page gives one specification row for both sizes.
- Hobonichi's store prices it at ¥660 (about US$4.20) to ¥770 (about US$4.90) with tax, depending on size, with a limit of 20 per item.
- It comes in A6 and A5 to match the HON, which Hobonichi lists at 156 × 110 × 16 mm (202 g) in A6 and 214 × 152 × 20 mm (482 g) in A5.
- Hobonichi says not to use it over covers that contain PVC, leather or faux leather, because it may affect their color or quality.
- US stock is sold in our $$ band ($5–20), with Yoseka listing the A6 and A5 at different prices on November 2, 2026.

## What is the Hobonichi Clear Cover HON?

**It is a transparent PVC sleeve that goes over the Hobonichi Techo HON, the techo with a hardcover already attached to the book.** Hobonichi says it keeps the techo clean and protects it from scratches and stains through the year.

Hobonichi also suggests customizing it: slip photographs between the book and the clear cover. Our [Hobonichi techo system guide](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/hobonichi-techo-system-guide/) shows where the HON sits among the other books.

## Hobonichi Clear Cover HON specs

| Spec | Value |
|---|---|
| Brand | Hobonichi (Japan) |
| Size on Hobonichi's page | 162 mm tall × 242 mm wide × 0.6 mm thick (6.4 × 9.5 × 0.02 in) |
| Weight | About 23 g (0.8 oz) |
| Material | PVC |
| Sizes sold | A6 and A5 |
| Hobonichi price (with tax) | ¥660 (about US$4.20) to ¥770 (about US$4.90) |
| Order limit | 20 per item |
| Yoseka (US) | A6 Original HON cover and A5 Cousin HON cover, priced separately |

Hobonichi notes that the specifications "may vary slightly". It prints one size row for both sizes, so the A5 dimensions are not published on the page.

## Which HON books does it fit?

**It fits the HON in A6 and A5, and nothing else.** Hobonichi says to choose the size that matches the book, and Yoseka's page adds that it fits only HON planners.

Our system guide records Hobonichi Japan's HON A6 at 156 × 110 × 16 mm and 202 g, and the A5 at 214 × 152 × 20 mm and 482 g.

Our arithmetic suggests the 162 × 242 mm row describes the A6: twice the 110 mm width plus the 16 mm spine is 236 mm, and 156 mm is 6 mm under 162 mm. The A5 book is 214 mm tall, taller than 162 mm, so the row can't be the A5. We haven't measured either sleeve.

## Which covers should you not use it on?

**Hobonichi says to avoid books whose cover material contains PVC, leather or faux leather.** The page warns this "may affect the color or quality of the material", and says other books may not suit it either.

Hobonichi points buyers to the "Please read before you buy" note on each product page and to its help page. We haven't tested what a PVC sleeve does to any cover over a year.

## How is it different from the Cover on Cover?

**The Cover on Cover protects a separate Colors or printed cover; the HON clear cover protects the book with the cover attached.** Hobonichi's own Cover on Cover is a PVC sleeve for the A6 Original or A5 Cousin.

| | Clear Cover HON | [Cover on Cover](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/hobonichi-cover-on-cover/) |
|---|---|---|
| Goes over | The HON hardcover book | A Colors or printed cover on an Original or Cousin |
| Size | 162 × 242 mm listed (A6 reading) | A6 177 × 257 mm, A5 238 × 347 mm |
| Weight | About 23 g | 23 g (A6), 40 g (A5) |
| Material | PVC | PVC |

The Weeks has its own sleeve, covered in our [Hobonichi Weeks clear cover guide](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/hobonichi-weeks-clear-cover/).

## How much does it cost?

**Hobonichi's store listed ¥660 (about US$4.20) to ¥770 (about US$4.90) with tax on November 2, 2026.** It does not say which size takes which price.

In the US, Yoseka listed the A6 at US$8 and the A5 at US$11 the same day, which falls in our $$ band ($5–20) and shows the US mark-up over Japan.

## Who is the Hobonichi Clear Cover HON for?

**It is for HON owners who want to protect a fabric hardcover or add photos on the outside.** At about 23 g and 0.6 mm thick, it adds little to the book's 202 g (A6).

Skip it if your HON cover contains PVC, leather or faux leather, or if you use another Hobonichi book: see the [Cover on Cover](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/hobonichi-cover-on-cover/) for the Original and Cousin.

## Where is it made?

**Hobonichi doesn't say.** Its page lists size, weight and material but no country of manufacture, and neither does Yoseka's, so we leave the origin as not stated.

## Frequently asked questions
