## What is the Girologio 12 Zippered Pen Case?

**It's a zip-around leather pen case that opens like a book, with twelve elastic loops, six on each half.** A fabric-covered divider sits between the two rows, so the pens don't knock together when the case is closed, as The Pen Addict describes in its January 2024 overview.

Girologio started in the watch business with watch winders, cases and straps; Goulet Pens says the name joins the Italian words *giro* (to turn) and *orologio* (watch). Goulet began selling Girologio pen cases in October 2017, and on October 22, 2026 its pen-case list, sorted by best selling, put the Oxblood 12 Zippered fourth.

Goulet's 2017 launch post adds that Girologio's cases are non-chemically tanned and non-reactive, and lined with fabrics that won't harm pens. Those are maker claims passed on by the retailer.

*On paper, three popular capped pens are shorter than the case is tall. Girologio publishes no maximum pen length.*

## Which pens fit in the Girologio 12?

**Standard-size pens fit, but the loops are snug on big ones.** The case is 164.7 mm (6.5 in) tall, longer than the capped [LAMY safari](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/lamy-safari/) at 139.5 mm, the [TWSBI ECO](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/twsbi-eco/) at 138.8 mm and the [Pilot Metropolitan](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/pilot-metropolitan/) at 138 mm.

Girth matters more than length here. The Pen Addict fit some of its wider pens without trouble, while one Goulet reviewer found the elastic too tight for large luxury pens and a Pen Chalet reviewer called larger pens "a little snug". Another Goulet reviewer says the case holds all their Pilot pens.

## What colors and materials does it come in?

**Goulet Pens lists Oxblood, Saddle, Bomber Brown and Black leather, plus a Denim version.** All have the same 12-loop layout, zip and velvet-lined inside.

The leather is soft rather than stiff, which lets the case pack flat. Goulet describes the cases as "soft and supple while simultaneously being tough and durable", a maker-style claim we haven't tested yet.

## How does it compare to other pen cases?

**It holds more pens than most zip cases of its size, and costs less than a handmade leather case.**

Galen and Sinclair figures come from their guides. Choose the Girologio for the most pens in a bag-sized case, the Galen for handmade vegetable-tanned leather, and the Sinclair for a few pens plus a pocket notebook. Our [best pencil cases roundup](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/best-pencil-cases/) covers cases for pencils and markers too.

For just three pens, Girologio also makes the magnetic-flap [Girologio Triple Magnetic Closure Pen Case](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/girologio-triple-magnetic-pen-case/).

## Which Girologio case should you choose?

**Pick by how many pens you carry.** Girologio makes cases from a single pen up to a briefcase for 96, and The Pen Addict reviewed several in January 2024.

| Girologio case | What it holds (The Pen Addict) |
|---|---|
| Triple Top Flap | 3 pens, each in its own slot |
| Grab N Go 4 | 4 pens, an A6 and a pocket notebook, 7 card slots |
| 12 Zippered | 12 pens (this guide) |
| 24 Pen Case | 24 pens |
| 48 Slot Zip | 48 pens, with a removable divider |
| 96 Pen Briefcase | Two 48-pen cases joined, with handles |

## What are the downsides?

**Snug loops for big pens, and no room for a notebook.** If you carry oversized pens, test the loops first, or choose a case with bigger slots.

It's also leather that will mark with use, and the divider and loops wear with every pen you pull out. Goulet listed the Oxblood case at US$60 on October 22, 2026, in our $20–75 band.

## Where is the Girologio 12 Zippered Pen Case made?

**In India.** Goldspot's listing says the case is designed in Italy and made in India, and its other Girologio listings say the same. Girologio doesn't publish where the company is based; The Pen Addict credits Luxury Brands USA, its US distributor, for the cases it reviewed.

## Frequently asked questions

### How many pens fit in the Girologio 12 pen case?

Twelve, one in each elastic loop: six on each half of the case. A fabric-covered divider sits between the two rows so the pens don't touch when it's zipped shut.

### Does the Girologio 12 hold a notebook?

No. It has only pen loops and a divider. Girologio's Grab N Go 4 case adds room for an A6 notebook and a pocket notebook beside four pens, per The Pen Addict.

### What size is the Girologio 12 Zippered Pen Case?

Goulet Pens and Goldspot both list 145.8 mm wide, 164.7 mm tall and 36.2 mm deep, or about 5.7 × 6.5 × 1.4 in. That's small enough for a bag or backpack.

### Is the Girologio 12 case real leather?

Yes. Goulet Pens lists the exterior as leather and calls it ecologically tanned; its 2017 launch post says the leather is non-chemically tanned. The Denim version uses denim instead.

### Is there a non-leather Girologio 12 pen case?

Yes, a Denim version with the same 12 elastic loops and zip, sold by Goulet Pens and Blick. The leather versions come in Oxblood, Saddle, Bomber Brown and Black.

### Is the Girologio pen case made in Italy?

No. Goldspot lists it as designed in Italy and made in India. The Girologio name comes from the Italian words giro and orologio.

### Is the Girologio 12 good for daily carry?

It's built to travel: The Pen Addict says it fits easily in a bag or backpack. One Goulet reviewer thought it suits collection storage better than heavy daily use, so we'll test how the zip and loops wear.
