Source: https://www.exacompta.com/en/product/12113E/no-3-desk-pad-18-5x11-5cm-plain-white ## Key takeaways - Exacompta lists the complete No. 3 at 197 × 115 mm (7.8 × 4.5 in) and 400 g (0.88 lb), with 170 white plain sheets. - The sheets are 70 g/m² smooth Clairefontaine paper, micro-perforated at the head so one hand can tear them off. - A 170-sheet refill (185 × 115 mm) is sold on its own at a recommended €5.30 (about US$5.90), against €23.65 (about US$26) for the complete pad. - FAF comes in three sizes, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4, at 170 × 100, 197 × 115 and 220 × 135 mm, and the No. 3 also comes with dotted sheets. - Exacompta says the pad is made in France and the paper is FSC certified; it does not say what FAF stands for. ## What is the Exacompta FAF desk pad? **It is a refillable desk pad: a board that holds a block of 170 plain white sheets, which you tear off one at a time.** Exacompta's pages, in French and English, describe a retro design that stays put on the desk thanks to anti-slip feet, so you can take notes with one hand, and call it refillable without limit. Exacompta is a Paris stationery maker founded in 1928 (see its [history with Clairefontaine](https://stationerytimes.com/stories/clairefontaine-rhodia-history/)). We read its product pages on November 2, 2026, and the pad's name, FAF, is not explained there. ## What are the FAF No. 3 specs? **A 197 × 115 mm pad of 170 smooth 70 g/m² sheets, weighing 400 g.** Everything below is from Exacompta's page for item 12113E. | Spec | Exacompta lists | |---|---| | Name | Bloc FAF complet 18,5/11,5 N°3, plain, white | | Complete pad | 197 × 115 mm (7.8 × 4.5 in) | | Sheet size in the name | 185 × 115 mm (7.3 × 4.5 in) | | Sheets | 170, white, plain, micro-perforated at the head | | Paper | 70 g/m², smooth, Clairefontaine paper, FSC certified | | Weight | 400 g (0.88 lb), the page's piece weight | | Barcode (EAN) | 3130630121138 | | Recommended price | €23.65 (about US$26) on November 2, 2026 | | Made in | France | ## Why is the pad 197 mm tall when its name says 18.5? **Because the name gives the sheet and the 197 mm is the complete pad.** Exacompta names it 18,5/11,5, which is the 185 × 115 mm of its refill, and lists the whole pad as 197 × 115 mm. It doesn't say where the extra 12 mm sits, so our drawing puts it in a header bar by eye. ![Exacompta FAF No. 3 complete pad at 197 by 115 mm beside its 185 by 115 mm refill sheet](https://stationerytimes.com/images/exacompta-faf-desk-pad-no-3-pad-vs-refill-sheet.svg?v=2d248aa7) *The complete No. 3 pad (197 mm) beside a refill sheet (185 mm) at 1 mm = 1.6 px; the header bar is drawn by eye. Exacompta's site lists dots versions of the other sizes too (12122E and 12124E). ## What do FAF refills cost? **A refill is far cheaper than a new pad.** The No. 3 refill (12513E) is 185 × 115 mm with 170 sheets and 275 g, at €5.30 (about US$5.90). Exacompta also sells a box of five (12213E) at €25.35 (about US$28). The No. 2 refill (12512E) is 160 × 100 mm, 170 sheets, at €4.35 (about US$4.90). Exacompta doesn't describe how a refill is fitted, so check the box before you order. ## What is the paper like? **Smooth, white, 70 g/m² Clairefontaine paper.** Exacompta lists the paper quality as smooth and says the sheets are FSC certified. It makes no fountain-pen or ink claim. At 70 g/m² it is a light paper, so wet inks may show through; we haven't tested bleed, feathering or dry time. ## Who is the FAF No. 3 for? **It suits a desk where you jot short notes one-handed and would rather refill than replace.** Exacompta lists anti-slip feet, micro-perforated sheets and a 170-sheet refill at €5.30 (about US$5.90). Skip it if you need lined sheets: the listings we read show plain and dots only. It is also a $$$ pad, so it costs more up front than a stapled pad such as the [Rhodia No. 16](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/rhodia-no-16-dot-pad/) from the same group. ## Where is it made, and what does it cost? **In France, per Exacompta's product page.** The page says French manufacture and FSC certification. Exacompta recommended €23.65 (about US$26) on November 2, 2026, in our $$$ band ($20–75). Exacompta also makes an [A4 register with numbered pages](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/exacompta-register-a4-5x5-200-pages/) and the [Gobi address book](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/exacompta-gobi-address-book-9x13/). ## Frequently asked questions ### How big is the Exacompta FAF No. 3?
