Japanese shops sell it as ロルバーン ポケット付メモ. It began in 2001 as the Rollbahn Photo Pocket Memo, according to Milligram's design history: digital cameras were new, people still printed photos, and the clear pockets were there to hold them next to the notes. ## Rollbahn sizes and specs | Size | Outside (W × H × T) | Pages | Japan price | |---|---|---|---| | Mini | 82 × 105 × 15 mm (3.2 × 4.1 in) | 120 | ¥550 (about US$3.50) | | M | 111 × 138 × 15 mm (4.4 × 5.4 in) | 120 | ¥715 (about US$4.50) | | L | 143 × 182 × 15 mm (5.6 × 7.2 in) | 140 | ¥880 (about US$5.60) | | A5 | 168 × 216 × 17 mm (6.6 × 8.5 in) | 160 | ¥1,210 (about US$7.70) | All four have 5 mm grid paper, perforated pages and five clear PP pockets at the back, and all are made in Japan, per DELFONICS' Japanese web shop (read October 22, 2026; prices include tax). In the US the L usually sells in our $$ band ($5–20). ![DELFONICS Rollbahn Mini, M, L and A5 drawn to scale with their sizes and page counts](https://stationerytimes.com/images/delfonics-rollbahn-pocket-memo-sizes.svg) *The four main sizes at one scale; the L is the one US shops often call 5.5 × 7 in.* ## Which Rollbahn size should you choose? **The L for a desk-and-bag notebook, the M or Mini for a pocket, the A5 for full-size notes.** US shops often label the L as 5.5 × 7 in or B6. The Mini is small enough for a jeans pocket; the A5 matches A5 notebooks and covers. ## What is the paper like? **Cream-coloured woodfree paper with a light 5 mm grid, which DELFONICS says resists ink feathering and show-through.** Milligram lists the paper as 70 gsm off-white and notes the grid is a soft ruling you can ignore when you sketch. The perforations sit right by the spiral on every page. DELFONICS also says the thick cover is stiff enough to write on standing up. ## What colours and editions are there? **Twelve standard colours, plus a steady stream of limited and collaboration covers.** DELFONICS added Greige, Light Purple and Olive in spring 2020 to make the current twelve, from Black and Cream to Rose and Yellow. Limited editions come and go on DELFONICS' shop, such as clear-cover, metallic and themed print versions, and some are sold only in DELFONICS' own stores. The insides stay the same: 5 mm grid, perforations and the five back pockets. Our [Rollbahn sizes and colors guide](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/delfonics-rollbahn-colors-and-sizes/) lists every size, color and dated limited series. DELFONICS also offers a label service that wraps each notebook in a printed band with a logo and message, aimed at gifts and corporate orders. ## How does it compare to other spiral notebooks? | | Rollbahn L | [Maruman Mnemosyne N195A](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/maruman-mnemosyne-a5-notebook/) | [KOKUYO Soft Ring](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/kokuyo-soft-ring-notebook/) | |---|---|---|---| | Size | 143 × 182 mm | A5, 210 × 161 mm | A5 | | Ruling | 5 mm grid | 7 mm ruled | Dot lines | | Binding | Spiral, elastic, 5 back pockets | Twin-ring wire | Soft plastic rings | The Rollbahn is the one to choose if you carry receipts, tickets or cards with your notes. DELFONICS is a Japanese design-stationery brand. ## Frequently asked questions ### What sizes does the Rollbahn come in? The pocket memo comes in Mini (82 × 105 mm), M (111 × 138 mm), L (143 × 182 mm) and A5 (168 × 216 mm), per DELFONICS. DELFONICS also lists slim, XL and horizontal versions. ### Which Rollbahn size is B6? The L. At 143 × 182 mm it's close to Japanese B6 (128 × 182 mm) with the spiral, and DELFONICS describes it as roughly B6-sized; US shops often sell it as 5.5 × 7 in. ### Is Rollbahn paper good for fountain pens? DELFONICS says its 5 mm grid woodfree paper resists feathering and show-through. We haven't tested it with fountain pens yet. ### Are Rollbahn pages perforated? Yes. Every page has a perforation by the spiral so it tears out cleanly, DELFONICS says, which makes it easy to hand someone a note. ### What does Rollbahn mean? Rollbahn is German for a runway or taxiway. DELFONICS doesn't explain the name on its product page. ### Are Rollbahn notebooks made in Japan? Yes. DELFONICS' Japanese shop lists Japan as the country of production for every pocket memo size. ## Sources - [ロルバーン ポケット付メモL | DELFONICS Web Shop (official Japanese shop, read October 22, 2026: ¥880, made in Japan, 143 × 182 × 15 mm, 5 mm grid, 140 pages, perforated, 5 PP pockets, 12 colours, 3 colours added spring 2020)](https://shop.delfonics.com/c/notebooks/NRP03) - [ロルバーン ポケット付メモM | DELFONICS Web Shop (¥715, made in Japan, 111 × 138 × 15 mm, 120 pages)](https://shop.delfonics.com/c/notebooks/NRP01) - [ロルバーン ポケット付メモミニ | DELFONICS Web Shop (¥550, made in Japan, 82 × 105 × 15 mm, 120 pages)](https://shop.delfonics.com/c/notebooks/NRP02) - [ロルバーン ポケット付メモA5 | DELFONICS Web Shop (¥1,210, made in Japan, 168 × 216 × 17 mm, 160 pages)](https://shop.delfonics.com/c/notebooks/NRP08) - [Milligram: Design Brief, DELFONICS Rollbahn Notebook (launched 2001 as the Rollbahn Photo Pocket Memo; creamy paper; 5 mm grid)](https://milligram.com/blogs/all/design-brief-delfonics-rollbahn-notebook) - [Milligram: Rollbahn A5 notebook (70 gsm off-white paper, metal spiral, elastic closure, 5 plastic pockets, made in Japan)](https://milligram.com/products/rollbahn-a5-notebook) - [Amazon US: Delfonics Rollbahn Spiral Classic Notebook, Olive (231 ratings; read October 22, 2026)](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085GFX3MT)
