## Product facts

| Product | Brand | Brand origin | Made in | Material | Released | Price range (typical US retail, October 2026) |

- Made in (Asvine V800 vacuum-filling fountain pen, #8 steel nib (EF, F, M or 1.1 mm stub)): Not stated. Asvine has no maker website we could find, and its Amazon US listing (read October 23, 2026) doesn't give a country of origin. SBRE Brown files the V800 under Chinese fountain pens, but that is the brand, not a statement of where this pen is made. Check the box.

## What is the Asvine V800?

**It's a large vacuum-filling fountain pen from the Chinese brand Asvine, with a #8 steel nib and a turned acrylic body.** You fill it straight from a bottle with a plunger in the barrel, so there is no converter or cartridge to buy.

The matte black version is new on Amazon US. On October 23, 2026 it was #8 in New Releases for Pens & Refills and #15 for Writing Instruments, with 558 ratings averaging 4.3 stars. The V800 itself isn't brand new: the pen reviewer SBRE Brown reviewed one Asvine sent him on December 8, 2025.

## Asvine V800 specs

| Spec | Asvine V800 |
|---|---|
| Length capped | 153 mm (6.0 in) |
| Length uncapped | 136 mm (5.4 in) |
| Length posted | 180 mm (7.1 in) |
| Diameter | 15–17 mm (0.6–0.7 in) |
| Weight | 32 g |
| Body | Turned acrylic |
| Nib | #8 stainless steel |
| Nib widths | EF (about 0.4 mm), F (0.5 mm), M (0.7 mm), 1.1 mm stub |
| Filling | Built-in vacuum filler, bottled ink only |
| In the box | Wrench, 2 sets of spare gaskets, pen case |

All figures come from Asvine's Amazon US listing, read October 23, 2026. Amazon's own detail table gives 33 g and a 17 mm diameter, close to Asvine's figures.

*Posting adds 44 mm, so most people will write with the V800 unposted.*

## How do you fill the Asvine V800?

**Unscrew the end cap, pull the rod up, dip the nib and push the rod down.** Asvine's listing describes exactly that: the plunger pushes air out, and as the rod passes the end of the chamber the vacuum pulls ink in.

Then close the end cap. For longer writing, Asvine says to unscrew the blind cap a few turns so ink can flow from the barrel to the nib; on a vacuum filler, the closed rod seals the chamber.

The wrench and spare gaskets in the box are for taking the filler apart to clean or re-seal it. SBRE Brown published a full V800 disassembly on January 7, 2026.

## Which Asvine V800 nib should you choose?

**Pick one size finer than you would on a European pen if you like a crisp line.** Asvine lists EF at about 0.4 mm, F at 0.5 mm, M at 0.7 mm and a 1.1 mm stub for broad and thin strokes.

One Amazon reviewer said their fine nib wrote like a medium, and Amazon's summary says some customers find the pen wet. If you write small or use cheap paper, the EF is the safer start.

## How does the Asvine V800 compare with the Jinhao 82?

**The V800 is far bigger, holds more ink and costs more.** Both come from Chinese brands sold mostly on Amazon; figures for the Jinhao come from our guide.

| | Asvine V800 | [Jinhao 82](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/jinhao-82/) |
|---|---|---|

| Length capped | 153 mm | 124 mm |
| Length posted | 180 mm | 142 mm |
| Weight | 32 g | 19.2 g |
| Price band | $$$ | $$ |

If you want to step up from either one, the piston-filling [TWSBI ECO](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/twsbi-eco/) is the classic next pen. Asvine also makes a titanium piston filler, the [Asvine P100](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/asvine-p100/). Our [fountain pen filling guide](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/how-to-fill-a-fountain-pen/) explains vacuum, piston and converter fillers.

## Where is the Asvine V800 made?

**The listing doesn't say.** Asvine is a Chinese brand, and SBRE Brown files the V800 under Chinese fountain pens, but neither Asvine's Amazon listing nor Amazon's detail table states a country of manufacture, and we found no Asvine website. Check the box.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much ink does the Asvine V800 hold?

Asvine says only that the vacuum filler holds far more than a cartridge and doesn't publish a volume. We'll measure a full fill in our own test.

### Does the Asvine V800 take cartridges?

No. It is a built-in vacuum filler with no converter or cartridge, so it fills only from bottled ink.

### What ink should I use in the Asvine V800?

Asvine recommends non-carbon bottled ink and warns that carbon or waterproof inks clog pens easily. No ink comes in the box.

### Can I swap the nib on the Asvine V800?

Asvine sells V800 replacement nibs on Amazon, so a worn or unwanted width can be changed. The large #8 size is bigger than the #5 and #6 nibs on most budget pens.

### Is the Asvine V800 too big for small hands?

Some buyers say so. Amazon's review summary says customers disagree on its size: it is 15 to 17 mm across and 180 mm posted, so many people write with it unposted at 136 mm.

### Why does my V800 stop writing during long sessions?

Vacuum fillers seal the ink chamber when the blind cap is closed. Asvine says to unscrew the blind cap a few turns, or all the way for long writing, so ink can flow to the nib.

### Is the Asvine V800 made in China?

Asvine is a Chinese brand, but the listing we read doesn't state the country of manufacture, so check the box.
