## Product facts

| Product | Brand | Brand origin | Made in | Material | Released | Price range (typical US retail, October 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| AJOTO Pocket Pen (Third Edition) | AJOTO (by AJOTO Ltd (Manchester, UK)) | United Kingdom | United Kingdom | Hardened stainless steel and aerospace-grade aluminium | – | $$$$: over $75 per pen (multi-packs divided by the count) |

- Made in (AJOTO Pocket Pen (Third Edition)): United Kingdom. Ajoto's Pocket Pen specification says "Pen Made in the UK", and the footer of Ajoto's site says its products are hand-finished in its workshop in Manchester, UK. Checked October 31, 2026. ## Key takeaways

- Ajoto lists the Pocket Pen at 13 mm × 80 mm (0.5 × 3.1 in) and 30 g (1.1 oz), shorter than the 89 to 114 mm range we use for a pocket pen.
- It is made of hardened stainless steel and aerospace-grade aluminium, and Ajoto says it spent over a year developing the folding mechanism.
- It takes a replaceable black D1 ballpoint refill; Ajoto's 4-pack D1 refill has a stainless tip and a tungsten carbide ball and writes a medium line.
- A detachable pocket clip (one screw) and engraving of up to 3 uppercase characters are paid options; Ajoto's US prices span four option combinations.
- Ajoto says the pen is made in the UK, hand-finished in its Manchester workshop, and calls the current run a Third Edition after the first two sold out.

## Which refill does the AJOTO Pocket Pen use?

**It uses a replaceable black D1-sized ballpoint refill.** Ajoto's 4-pack D1 refill has a stainless tip and a tungsten carbide ball and writes a medium stroke; Ajoto lists it as suitable for the Pocket Pen and in black only.

Ajoto's separate rollerball refills are described as suitable for its The Pen collection, so don't assume they fit the Pocket Pen. For a pen of similar size that takes a different kind of refill, see the pressurized one in the [Fisher Space Pen Bullet](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/fisher-space-pen-bullet/).

## Does the Pocket Pen come with a clip?

**The clip is an add-on, not part of the base pen.** Ajoto sells a detachable pocket clip that attaches with a single screw, to anchor the pen to a pocket, a bag or a book. It also describes an optional Carry Ring to attach the pen to everyday-carry gear.

Engraving is a second option: up to 3 uppercase characters in Futura PT. Personalised products can't be returned for exchange or refund.

## Is the Pocket Pen a good pocket pen?

**On size, it is shorter than most: at 80 mm it is under the 89 to 114 mm range we use for pocket pens, and it unfolds to a full-length pen.** We cover that range in our [best pocket pens roundup](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/best-pocket-pens/).

For a cheap, even slimmer wallet pen, the 91 mm, 3.1 g [OHTO Minimo](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/ohto-minimo/) costs far less, though it is too thin for long writing. Choose the Ajoto if a folding mechanism and a metal body matter more than price.

## Where is the AJOTO Pocket Pen made?

**In the United Kingdom.** Ajoto's specification says "Pen Made in the UK", and its site says its products are hand-finished in its workshop in Manchester.

## How does the Pocket Pen compare with other pocket pens?

**It is the only one of these three that folds, and the heaviest and priciest.** The figures for the other two are the makers' own, as in our guides to them.

| | AJOTO Pocket Pen | [Fisher Space Pen Bullet](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/fisher-space-pen-bullet/) | [OHTO Minimo](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/ohto-minimo/) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Length | 80 mm (3.1 in), per Ajoto | 96 mm (3.8 in) closed, 136 mm (5.4 in) posted | 91 mm (3.6 in) |
| Weight | 30 g (1.1 oz) | about 21 g (0.75 oz), per GP Knives | 3.1 g |
| Mechanism | Folds, no cap | Cap, posts | Retractable |
| Refill | D1 ballpoint | Fisher PR4 (pressurized) | R-4C5NP |
| Made in | United Kingdom | United States | Not stated |
| Price band | $$$$ | $$$ | $$ |

The Ajoto is shorter than both, but heavier than the Minimo by about ten times. It is a pen to carry for its mechanism and metal body, not for lightness.

For another machined-metal pocket pen that posts to full length instead of folding, see the [Studio Neat Mark Two](https://stationerytimes.com/guides/studio-neat-mark-two/).

## What does Ajoto not say about the Pocket Pen?

**Ajoto's page leaves several details open, so we haven't filled them in.** It gives no open length, no line width for the D1 refill beyond "medium", no colors or finishes beyond the stainless steel and aluminium it names, and no production limit for the Third Edition.

It also doesn't say what the three engraved hexagon marks on the handle plate mean; they are visible in its photos. We list these gaps so that nobody reads a missing figure as a measured one.

## What else does Ajoto make?

**Ajoto's shop groups its products into The Pen, rollerball refills, the Pen Pouch v2, the Pocket Paper notebooks and covers, a Pocket Paper tool loop, and an Imari crown rest and pen pot.** The Pocket Pen is listed as item 012 in that range. It has no guide of its own on our site yet, so for the wider brand, start from [Ajoto's home page](https://www.ajoto.com/en-us).

## What are Ajoto's shipping and return terms?

**Ajoto lists free UK shipping on orders over £250 (about US$330) and free worldwide shipping over £450 (about US$594), and says US orders include duties in the shipping price.** Its page says you can return a purchase for an exchange or refund within 30 days of receipt if it is in saleable condition, except personalised (engraved) items.

Terms change, so read Ajoto's page before you order.

## How much does the AJOTO Pocket Pen cost?

**The Pocket Pen sits in our $$$$ band (over $75 per pen).** On October 31, 2026, Ajoto's US store listed it at US$202 without options, US$215 with engraving, US$222 with the pocket clip and US$235 with both, with duties included for US customers.

Ajoto's page showed pre-order and sold-out labels that day, so check availability before planning around it. A 4-pack of D1 refills was US$12.50.

[Ajoto's Pocket Pen page](https://www.ajoto.com/en-us/products/pocket-pen) has the current options and stock.

## Frequently asked questions

### How long is the AJOTO Pocket Pen?

Ajoto lists its dimensions as 13 mm × 80 mm (0.5 × 3.1 in) without saying whether that is folded or open. Ajoto's product photos show the folded pen, so we read 80 mm as the folded length and have found no published open length.

### How much does the AJOTO Pocket Pen weigh?

Ajoto lists 30 g (about 1.1 oz). That is the pen's own specification line, not a shipping weight, which Ajoto's store data gives separately.

### Is the AJOTO Pocket Pen made in the UK?

Yes. Ajoto's specification says "Pen Made in the UK", and its site says its products are hand-finished in its workshop in Manchester.

### Does the AJOTO Pocket Pen come with a pocket clip?

The clip is an option. Ajoto sells a detachable pocket clip as a paid add-on that attaches with a single screw, and an optional Carry Ring for everyday-carry gear.

### Can you get the AJOTO Pocket Pen engraved?

Yes, for a fee. Ajoto engraves up to 3 uppercase characters in Futura PT, and personalised products can't be returned for exchange or refund.

### Can you refill the AJOTO Pocket Pen?

Yes. It takes a replaceable black D1-sized ballpoint refill, and Ajoto sells a 4-pack of D1 refills that it lists as suitable for the Pocket Pen.

### Is the AJOTO Pocket Pen a limited edition?

Ajoto calls the current run its Third Edition and says the first and second editions sold out fast. We found no stated production limit.
